Did school kill your love for reading?

Let's change that.

THREAD: 5 Tips to get over your reading PTSD
1) Pick your own books

There's no assigned reading in the real world. You have the freedom to read any book you wish.

Read sci-fi, self-help, psychology, fantasy, business, bibliography, or any other genre you want.

Follow your curiosity wherever it leads you.
2) Experiment with different book mediums

You don't have to read those small and smelly mass-market books.

You can read new hardcover books, experiment with a Kindle device, or give audiobooks a try.

Try different book mediums and see what works best for you.
3) Avoid the classics

You don't have to read Shakespeare or Moby Dick–in fact, avoid the "classics".

Instead, pick bestselling books in a genre you enjoy reading.

Examples:

Biz → "Zero to One"
Psych → "Influence"
Habits → "Atomic Habits"
Writing → "On Writing Well"
4) Write in your books

In school you get punished for writing in your books, but in life you get rewarded for it.

Writing in a book is a great way to:

• Stay focused while reading
• Remember more of what you've read
• Find important lessons when reviewing the book later
5) Quit boring books

There's no quiz or final exam on the book you're reading so if you aren't enjoying it, quit it!

Forcing yourself to finish boring books will only decrease your love for reading.

It's much better to quit a book than to quit reading altogether.

I talked with 5 content creators who each have 100K+ followers.

Here are 10 things I learned from them:
1/ Use keyboard shortcuts for FAQs & FULs

Create keyboard shortcuts for frequently asked questions & frequently used links.

This will save you time, but more importantly, it will save you the mental energy from having to constantly retype the same answers and links.
Here are a few examples of my keyboard shortcuts:

• twi = twitter.com/AlexAndBooks_
• podca = alexandbooks.com/podcast
• bestb = alexandbooks.com/bestbooks
• newsl = alexandbooks.com/newsletter
• youtub = youtube.com/c/alexandbooks

I've built an audience of 150k+ followers:

Here are 12 universal lessons that will help you grow on any social media platform 👇
1/ Repackage & Repurpose Your Content

If you created a great piece of content, don't let it go to waste.

Take the time to repackage it and distribute it onto other social media platforms.

You don't have to repurpose everything, focus on your most popular content first.
3 Ways to repurpose your Twitter content:

1) Screenshot your most popular tweets and turn it into a carousel post on Instagram.

2) Take your most popular thread and make a YouTube video about it.

3) Expand your most popular thread into a blog or Reddit post.
