The greatest weapon used to colonize Africa was never the Maxim gun, but religion. We have people who go buy a working factory, convert it into a church and start praying for jobs. Religion pacified people and even made some of us lazy, always waiting for someone else to save us
There is a reason why 95% of the world's poorest countries are the most religious. Religion is a tool made for controlling people. They will drill it into you that ,"blessed are the poor" , or "the rich young ruler struggled in hell and the poor Lazarus was partying in heaven"
For me, this creates a situation whereby people are content with being poor, they don't wanna even change their status quo and they are much worried about the "world to come" instead of the world they live NOW. Very few religious people want to be rich because being rich has
been made synonymous with going to hell when you die. So people embrace poverty with two hands. People get comfortable being poor and poverty is even glorified to the extend that those who were born in rich families are attacked and called names simply because they can't relate
Even young men are told to look for a woman who "knows struggle" when choosing a life partner. Those with marriage qualities are vetted against how much poverty they can absorb. Imagine what could happen if we glorified wealth like how poverty is glorified in African societies?
As Africans it pains me that most people have already conceded that Africans can't do anything without the aid of the former colonizers which is entirely false. Our ancestors built massive kingdoms and permanent structures which is a clear testimony that we can surely do
anything on our own and it will work. The pyramids of Egypt, the monuments of Great Zimbabwe etc are massive projects that show that our ancestors were good project managers, architects, engineers, organizers etc on their own. But with religion when you are told daily that
you have to do absolutely nothing and just "wait on the Lord and he will renew your strength" it creates lazy people if translated with direct interpretation. The problem is, a lot of preachers we have now do not even take time to explain these things and many gullible
congregants take the scriptures at face value and plunge into a retrograde. Many religious people also do not want to participate in political issues saying ,"leaders are installed by the Lord, even bad ones like Pharaoh and Nebucchadnezzar were installed by the Lord. They say
us as humans are just doing what was pre-planned already therefore we can't change anything, so they do not even #RegisterToVoteZW. But if things are going bad after they don't vote, they start crying and sending "thoughts and prayers" yet they are the ones who were supposed to
alter the narrative. This is why useless sayings and slogans, hallucinations and tricks gain traction in Africa. It is simply because we have so many lazy people who always expect miracles to happen instead of them getting up and working. People expect to be given money from a
stranger, they expect to get some concoction that will just turn them into millionaires in one night, they will pray 4 days a week at the "krawa" whilst the other nations are working in labs and doing research. When their prayers and empty words yield nothing, they start
begging for money to go buy solutions which have been researched, developed and packaged by those who ,"don't know God, whose sights are set on the luxuries of this world" whilst our own African people are focused on preparing for the "next life to come".
Africa as a continent has made more efforts for the next kingdom that they will stay in the afterlife than to work on the present. As such, we have nothing to offer and we always recommend "prayer" even for situations which need actual action on the ground. If someone is injured
they do not need prayer, they need an ambulance for them to go to a hospital and get painkillers and wound management from Healthcare professionals. If a building collapses, people don't need prayer, they need an evacuation system to help them. Yes prayer works however making it
the absolute answer to everything which even needs practical solutions is what is causing our people to suffer from unnecessary problems which could have been avoided if we told each other the truth.

This generation drains me to the core! Calling with WhatsApp call instead of airtime means you are not serious. Buying items on promotion like Steers Wacky Wednesday, Spur Bottomless Thursdays and Chicken Inn Terrific Tuesday or using an iTel means you are broke. I'm tired shem.
Not wearing designer = you are broke. Staying with your parents when you are 30 means you are not mature. Staying in the ghetto whilst working means you are poor. The list is endless. People really need financial literacy. A lot of you are chocking in debts simply because you
want to live according to a fake narrative. You would rather APPEAR rich than be ACTUALLY rich. Someone stays with their parents even if they are 30 probably because the parents have an ailment which need someone really close to them to take care of them

If most Zimbabweans knew where John, Stewart and Thomas Meikle really got their money to build the Meikles Hotel and expand their business, they would be so furious and boycott that building forever.
Much is talked about Gold as a means of wealth in the 1890s but little attention is given to the vast monopolies that dealt in the beef and cattle business. As everyone was rushing towards gold, the Meikles brothers invested in cattle as there was high demand for beef back in
England and the Americas. At first the Meikles brothers were buying cattle from the natives for a fair price and selling at a profit and sometimes fattening before exporting to Europe. However as demand soared higher, the Meikles brothers were pushed to the limits by the

If I ever become the President of Zimbabwe:

1. I'll limit parly seats to 100 and reduce gobbling tax payer's money
2. I will remove redundant titles like minister of state, deputy minister etc
3. The government vehicles will be purchased locally
4. 4x4 vehicles will only be for
parly members outside major cities. PAs must not get 4x4s and stay whole day in airconditioned rooms. 4x4 is for rugged work and terrain
5. I will leave ministers to do official openings of projects in their line of ministry. I can't be officially opening a powerstation when the
minister of energy is there. Same applies to roads when the minister of transport and infrastructure development is there.
6. I will change the education system we have right now. ECD A&B, Gr 1- 7, Form 1 - 6, Gap year, First year to 5th yr, 21 years of paying fees is not a joke

Our education in Africa is not helping us that much anymore. Bachelor's degrees produce a lot of managers. Polytechnic college diplomas produce handsmen and technicians. Now we have lots of degree holders (managers) than diploma holders(technicians and handsmen). The end result is
companies and organizations end up creating numerous managerial posts than to hire actual people who do the work. You have Director, Deputy Director, Assistant Deputy Director, PA to the Director, PA to the Assistant Deputy Director, Manager, Supervisor then the guy who does the
job. Now we wonder why there is no production yet half of the company is working on people instead of on production. In Zimbabwe, during Ian Smith's reign, he had one university and a lot of polytechnic colleges around the country. It made sure that it produced a lot of handsmen

As Africans, we have a lot of unproductive things we spend much time on. Imagine watching 4hrs+ of TV series per day. How much could we learn/do in that time frame? How many tutorial videos have you watched this year so as to learn a new skill or replenish an existing one?
How many TV series titles do you know if you are being honest with yourself? We are very good at plugging each other with movies and series. "Une ma movie here" is the question of the day. Rarely do you hear someone asking for tutorials.
We are all responsible and if we really need change, we need to consider this angle too. Yes entertainment is needed but in moderation. Same as gaming. If we channelled that effort to learning a skill or improving an existing, we would really be the best in our fields and craft.
