Sugar Lobby is Network of Deshastha 96-clan Marathas. Same caste fellows from Vidarbha and Konkan aren't even considered equal in this Sugar lobby. He hoped to emerge as Maratha leader. Failed.

But ended up as a wannabe. Without Pawar's money, network, vision and reach it was impossible anyways.

The biggest damage that Pawar has done to dev-desh-dharma is that for few decades, he denied emergence of a truly hindutvavaadi 96-clan Maratha leader. He set the benchmarks.
A maratha leader, as per Pawar's benchmarks, had to be a brahmin and hindutva hater. In spite of general population being very pro hindutva in MH state.
Many promising Maratha leaders who were ambitious had to set their courses early in their career to fit in Pawar's benchmarks.

Rane got lucky here. He dared to course-correct and start over.
I hope that with RSS and BJP spreading in sugar-belt of western MH, slowly ambitious Maratha future leaders will be able to come out of this Pawar's trap and follow dharma proudly. It will be a generational shift.
