My disability thread is important to me as a mom of a a person with disabilities, a sister of a person who had disabilities, and as a daughter of a person with disabilities… as well as a woman with learning disabilities.

Life is incredibly hard for people who aren’t typical.

I don’t want to exploit Alexander for some crusade as he will inevitably become a target of people who lack empathy, and critical thinking skills. I have seen it happen online before.

Living in this world and having to see how easy it is for everyone else is painful for him.

I’ve seen him cry because of his disabilities, I have held him and had to tell him he will never get better. There is no cure for cerebral palsy. It is a static condition. I told him at least he wouldn’t get any worse, but then he developed epilepsy. A curse that runs with CP.

I had done the same things for my sister when we were kids and later as adults. She always wanted to just die because the burdens of her disabilities and living with chronic pain was too much to bear.

Coupled with the strain of the system in America, she was exhausted.

Keeping people locked in a situation where they don’t have enough money to live, but if they try to make any more, they can lose any help at all, is disgusting, and immoral.

She shouldn’t have had to wonder where her next meal to feed her kids was going to come from.

She’s gone now, but I remember when she would call me crying because they were taking her benefits because her husband had a job. And if they took her benefits she wouldn’t be able to get meds for her or her kids with asthma.

Basically because she had enough money to eat regularly, her kids and her could potentially die.

The stress was unbearable. It’s disgusting that we have to keep people in abject poverty so that others can feel good that people with disabilities aren’t too comfortable.

And ultimately, that is why the system is like this. To deter able bodied people from wanting to be on disability, but also so the working poor do not feel jealous of people with disabilities.

Honestly, capitalism is a massive part of this oppression.

Capitalism’s concern is that if we show that we can support people with disabilities, and they can have decent lives, then the working poor will make themselves disabled so they don’t have to work.

Because millionaires think we are all lazy, con artists.

Imagine hating the poor so much, that you torture disabled people to make a point…

This is the psychopathic nature of capitalism.
