Isn’t this the Liberal policy already in place?

It takes time to root out corruption. BC has a commission doing an inquiry, do they not?

Liberals have expanded RCMP investigative capacity and prosecution capacity in DOJ.

It’s not the ultra rich who are doing this.
It’s organized crime. Domestic and foreign organized crime. Which was allowed by former government to take root by cutting budgets by 20% and refocusing on preventing domestic terrorism expected to be committed by domestic and foreign threats.
Yep. Here is the budget that has been approved. Plans to expand affordable housing by 100K units in a couple of years. And plans for more into 2027. A five year plan.

Click on housing & homeless housing.

budget.gc.ca/2021/home-accu…
If you read the budget proposals and plans, you can see they are costed and well planned for several areas. Urban renewal, new units, homeless, single parent families, veterans, refurbishment, conversion of commercial property.
The impact of 2020 funding is already being witnessed. Canada has completed its average home building totals in six months vs the average of 200K per annum.
One may be questioning the small sum of $25 million set aside for Inuit housing initiatives in Nunavut.

First let’s talk numbers. Inuit are estimated to be 85,000 people. Most living in Nunavut.

MP Mumilaaq Qaqqaq posted on Twitter & spoke in HOC about the dire needs of Inuit.
Many were taken aback by the paltry sum offered by Liberals.

But that’s politics. It’s all about perception, not reality.

A Nunavut local news article details how skewed that perception provided by MP Qaqqaq truly were.

And highlights a CPC MP echoing the disinformation.
Here is the article. It’s an interesting read. Basically it reveals the demagoguery practiced by both NDP and CPC in creating the perception that LPC doesn’t care and hasn’t responded to dire needs and health concerns of Inuit housing crisis.

nunatsiaq.com/stories/articl…
I especially question the addition of a CPC backbench MP who echos the disinformation. I assume conveniently providing for conservative news clips to amplify the smear of LPC and completely false accusations made by MP Qaqqaq without having to quote her directly.
This is an example of demagogic populism.

If you’ve heard MP Qaqqaq speak, she has a quite noticeable tone of contempt and derision when speaking about LPC.

I don’t blame any indigenous person for anger, contempt or mistrust.
But using false accusations to win favour for your political party by misrepresenting the facts and obstructing the response by the government is deceptive, and the work of a partisan saboteur.

Maybe that’s the real reason MP Qaqqaq is not running for office again? Shame.
Journalists local to Nunavut have clearly detailed available funds to address the crisis and confirm some have also been dispersed. They detail the immediate response of federal govt in 2020 when the crisis became apparent through MP Qaqqaq’s report.
All this was done while LPC was addressing covid nationally.

Nunavut’s housing crisis was made a priority when billions in covid aid was being dispersed to millions of Canadians in dire need of benefits, business loans, student jobs, economic planning. Nunavut was a priority.
But we were all distracted by the partnership of Angus and Poilievre milking the WE scandal they created conveniently timed around the assassination attempt by a Q’Anon military reservist, and eventually destroying Canada’s premier international charity.
So no one noticed the immediate response, the extensive inclusion of Nunavut in Indigenous targeted housing initiatives, the plans to continue funding housing initiatives in Nunavut until sufficient housing is available. And the commitment to ongoing funds for home maintenance.
Nope. Daily MSM promoted another scandal that destroyed WE, slandered the PM’s mother like a cheap gold digger and influence peddler, made numerous allusions and outright accusations of criminal bribery and corruption on the part of the PM and his family.
Poilievre & Angus ran a televised show trial in HOC finance committee. PMJT was subpoenaed to answer questions publicly.

Then both claimed “coverup” when PMJT prorogued government to shut down banana republic sideshow of NDP and CPC MPs attempting to create another scandal.
I have no problem admitting LPC used prorogue to limit the damage to the party. Though PMJT swears otherwise. I encouraged it then and I’m happy they did. Low and behold the Ethics Commissioner cleared LPC and PMJT from any scandal.
Though Finance Minister Morneau revealed a blunder.

As I’ve explained before, Morneau has an annual income of $50 million. The $40K he didn’t pay back was a blunder, not a crime. $40K sounds like a lot to the average Canadian. But to Moreneau, it’s 0.08% of his annual income.
That’s not 8% it’s literally 0.08%. Or 8/100 of 1%.

The guy pays accountants to handle his finances. So he very likely assumed the bill was paid.

No matter. He handed in his resignation shortly thereafter. To thunderous accusations of accepting a bribe.
$40K isn’t a bribe to Morneau. It’s the equivalent of a nickel you and I would find dropped in the gutter.

Not an incentive to blow up his career. That’s ridiculous.

And that’s why I will refuse to entertain any idea of voting for NDP or CPC.
Neither party is honest. Neither party has an actual plan. Just vague ideological concepts dressed up as virtue signals. And amplified along side false accusations and character assassination.
I don’t blame MP Qaqqaq for leaving politics. If the party she represents and the one she partners with for effect are that dirty and underhanded, what does she think the other parties are like?

I wouldn’t vote NDP right now or next election if you paid me.
Until the party cleans house, drops the demagogic populism and starts actually developing some policy not virtues dressed up as policy, I’m left with one reasonable choice in a federal election. LPC.

And so is the rest of Canada.
If we keep accepting demagoguery as legitimate, that’s what we will continue to get. I’d like a proper & effective opposition (not Sideshow Bobs). I want liberals to receive constructive and helpful feedback. And I want more than one option for a party.

How about you Canada?

@UncleBeebaw Demagoguery is not opposition. It’s trickery. It’s fallacious finger pointing and character assassination to win support.

That’s not opposition. That’s negative campaigning. If you don’t know the difference, I can’t help you. Image
@UncleBeebaw There is no claim being made that the problem is longstanding. There’s no denial of federal government responsibility.

But it’s a lie and blatant misrepresentation of facts to state LPC did not respond immediately to the request for help from MP Qaqqaq.
@UncleBeebaw MP Qaqqaq requested $500 Million to address the housing needs of Inuit communities. The article states LPC has committed more than she requested. Through multiple programs. But rather than accept the LPC response, she accuses the sitting government of ignoring the situation.

Don’t forget when this decision is made is as significant as the decision itself.

We are in an era where women’s participation in the labour force has been similarly reduced as the largest contraction in female labour participation during post WW2.
Resulting in a baby boom.

Influenced by a huge promotion of traditional gender roles for women. So men could get back to work.

Which inevitably will be the focus of the demoted and devalued Status of Women by UCP.

Wouldn’t want to rely too heavily on immigration.
Need to keep white birth numbers up. Tucker did give us a big lie warning about replacement theory on Fox recently.

In other words, it will be menial low pay jobs that will become the focus of the new associate minister. Gotta keep immigrant women from having too many babies.

It’s a bit concerning when an anti racist educator doesn’t recognize or distinguish racism from criticism.

What’s weird is most easily recognize when UCP illegitimately preempts criticism by labeling dissent and criticism as authoritarian.

But racist? Is everything racist? Image
Or just every criticism of behaviour of someone from BIPOC?

Honestly. Criticizing repeated and highly manipulative propaganda and disinformation by a political leader is racist? I hope not. I criticize other party leaders too. None of them called criticism racist before.
I especially enjoyed the contempt in the directive to remove my criticism. Not happening. I don’t intimidate that easily. And I’m working really hard to keep my emotions at bay. But it’s difficult.

Let’s talk about POPULISM.

What is it?

Who is using it?

How does it impact politics?

Is it dangerous?

Why are some using populist strategies?

How does populism impact democracy?
First let’s define representative democracy.

The vast majority of modern democracies use representative democracy.

The government is chosen by the people. The electorate chooses who governs by casting a vote. The winners then govern for all people, not just a subset.
Populism is inherently divisive. While it claims to be democratic, “The People” populism represents is a much narrower subset of the population. Populists mean the “good” people. Everyone else is an elite or an enemy.

Nuance ceases to exist. There is only black and white.

When FBI are forced to fly up to Canada to demand an espionage investigation in which a foreign asset with access through Canadian intelligence is bleeding 5 eyes secrets to Russia, something is terribly wrong.
The kicker: CSIS had been surveillance the mole for months. Yet was legally prevented from informing RCMP investigators and law enforcement.

Does that sound normal to you?
A foreign ally was required to intervene to trigger the rushed investigation by RCMP so criminal espionage impacting several nations could be halted on Canadian turf.

It amazes me still how willing people are to believe the worst about LPC after every other phoney smear by opposition parties.

What does that say about the Canadian political zeitgeist? That it’s turned cynical and believes conspiracy theories.

threadreaderapp.com/thread/1411507…
Fife and G&M have detailed this information, but strangely enough have left it to spin doctors to make the accusations.

Would that be the newly imported UK spin doctors O’Toole hired? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Your guess is as good as mine.

Weren’t some of them former MI6?

threadreaderapp.com/thread/1410446…
This is a pattern of behaviour.

The public must employ critical thinking skills.

LPC has established an oversight system in 2018 in the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians. It is multi partisan & responsible for ALL intelligence activities.
