I've been talking to some of my peers about putting together a kind of "boot camp" for people aspiring to entry level and/or exec admin roles, because folks think stuff like this shows drive.
There are three things MINIMUM in this story that tell me he'd be a terrible intern.
I regularly have peers looking for assistants or junior people and we all complain about the talent pool. Lots of education, not enough contextual common sense.
1. He didn't know Uber & Lyft weren't functional in Cody, Wyoming. That means he didn't research, nor does he have a grasp on logistics. Didn't consider the world don't move like the D. (Con't)
1. (Con't)
Interns - in any industry - are often tasked with research and logistical solves because they're time sucks. But if ppl have to specifically say "these are the key words you need to google" "consider these obstacles" etc they might as well just do it.
2. He was going to a ranch.
In Wyoming.
That was gonna be A BIG ASS PIECE OF LAND.
I just googled this in like 15 seconds.
Let alone not knowing if Ye was there; he was gonna just roll up on him?

Same issues as #1 plus just lack of common sense.
2B. He printed signs because I guess he figured he might be stuck at the gates. But gates that are likely MILES back from wherever ppl actually are, and cars ain't moving in and out all day. So right now a bunch of steer and cattle and sh*t like "Good luck, homie."
3. He went to Wyoming with no money... to ask for an unpaid job.
Even if it WAS a paid job, did he imagine he'd be hired on the spot? That Kanye would house him? And with it most likely NOT being paid, how he gonna eat and function? This was not "hustle."
3B. I could never trust this person to cover me at the office while I'm traveling, or plan an event, because they're not anticipating next steps and pitfalls. Your biggest talent as a junior staffer is initially not even your talent in whatever field you work in...
...it's anticipating what the people you work for need, and making those things happen before they have to ask so they can work more efficiently. Having plans B and C on the ready. That makes you an asset. And it makes you a good exec later.
And going to Wyoming with almost no money is not like people who say "I went to LA/NY with $150 to my name" bc those are gig economy cities. You can hustle up some cash day by day (even if not easily) and probably know someone who knows someone with a couch or do a hostel...
... not in Cody, Wyoming. You can't even do a park bench overnight situation in damn Cody, Wyoming.
You still need instinct and intuition.
Hustling Backwards is truly an epidemic right now.
One of the first things I imagined was asking person to arrange travel for me/talent/whomever and me asking "What about the car?" And them shrugging like "I figured you'd take uber" and me seeing red.
None of what I mentioned is industry-specific. It's common sense for any adult moving out in the world, period. So what I read when I see that is: "Tell me everything step by step" which is different than "train me for my role." Employers assume some basic functional knowledge.
I'm happy to teach you specific areas of research based on what I need, but not Google in general. Not "check the best way to get from the airport" or "know what kind of area we're talking about" basics. You ain't ready to work in an org of any kind yet if you can't do that.
School is SUPPOSED to teach you critical thinking, but instead they teach rote memory and repetition now, which is a fail. But your questions suggest a person is coming into a job with LITERALLY nothing, not even a basic concept of the role.
So why would I hire them?
I understand the argument you can't get experience without experience, but homey wasn't able to even plan out his OWN shit - that has nothing to do with whether you have a job or not. How are you going to function as an independent adult period?
Some of y'all got life skills mixed up with job skills.
And then you forget that jobs are about the people who are best qualified. That would mean even if you don't know how to do things *yet*, you would have some idea of what you need to learn (bc researching jobs is a thing)
If I have to tell you to go onto the World Wide Web and Google the job you want to eventually have and what it entails, and the job you're trying to get RIGHT NOW and what that entails?
Nope.
And I didn't even get to that part since I know nobody saw those signs but us.
But going back to working retail, there's ARE skills to develop there! Scheduling, zone coverage, customer service (which is about anticipating what a customer may want), drop ships, inventory and even straightening the floor at night are logistical.
I would tackle my sections at close based on easiest vs hardest, most visible vs least. That's strategy and logistical planning.
But lastly, EVERYBODY ain't gonna be proficient in EVERY skill set. Some things are just naturally easier for people regardless of education, training or experience, and frankly that's where you should be trying to take your talents... to the areas where you naturally flow.
Know your strengths and your weak spots. Even successful entrepreneurs who are visionaries put people around them to handle the admin and business end.
You might not be good in a role that requires soft skills (like the ones I've been talking about) at all!
So back to the original post, dude is apparently already a designer (CEO in the bio but thought he could easily get rideshare in Cody, Jesus), but he wants Kanye's attention and a foot in the door at Yeezy. That means finding a way to make the COMPANY aware of his design skill...
... Yeezy IS a company. It's not just Kanye walking around. And he may not even want to be an intern, everyone just assumes intern is easy bc ppl can just say "Aight, come on." It's not the 90s anymore.
This is working hard but not smart (aka hustling backwards, like we said)
For those asking about the bootcamp idea, I've been making notes on curriculum, thinking about number of ppl per cohort, how often it would be offered, etc. But I have EXCELLENT folks already on board to participate, so I'm targeting September for the first one. Stay tuned.

But it explains SO MUCH about discourse on twitter. Like, so much.
People focused on the sequence of multipliers once they noticed it was 10, 9, 8, etc., while fully skipping over the jump from 6 to 3 that was sitting right there.
Showed me how easily ppl miss the context and/or crux of the situation & make a judgment based on incomplete info.

Nope. Y'all are assuming the numbers on the right stay in sequence, but the numbers on the LEFT break sequence. So it follows that so would the numbers on the right.

People still acting like Tom was taking Sally courtin' and whatnot?
I remain confused about how we allegedly have too many slave narratives yet ppl know less factual history about slavery than they did 20 years ago.
Lmaoooooo "mistress."
Also "Where did you get this (very easily searchable historical) information."

People in the replies like "Nah it could just mean don't nobody need to see us together/we ain't supposed to be together" .... like those ain't essentially synonyms 🤔
"People don't need to be in our business..." Unless you all canoodling in the restaurant, what does that have to do with being in a public place together?

The lines between FWB / casual / situationships and sides have all been blurred, bless y'all's hearts.
There definitely seems to be a current philosophy that having sex outside of dating means y'all like... don't talk to each other, don't like each other as people, don't have any normal human interaction. It's weird.

THREE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY THOUSAND PEOPLE told this girl she made that 5 minute bread rule up, and the below was her response.

I almost gotta admire her sticktoitiveness. I mean she is DEAD wrong and being tacky in her efforts to be faux classy, but at least she's firm. Image
"Restaurants are for socializing; fast food is for eating right away." She ain't never been a single place in her entire fcking life. Bless her heart. Image
That is my sincere prayer, because thinking eating hot bread is beneath you - or that you don't go to restaurants to EAT (while you fellowship) is the kind of empty existence I don't wish on anyone.

My heart breaks for Sha'Carrie, and it was a human mistake, especially all things considered. Olympic level competition unfortunately requires setting aside all kinds of shit we mere mortals do. If the IOC had let her compete they'd have been setting a precedent they can't uphold
The International Olympic Committee is trash on plenty of levels, but this was pretty cut and dry. Weed's not performance enhancing, but it masks other drugs and minimizes muscle and body pain. It's a tough ass lesson to learn, though.
I'm looking at Sha'Carrie's coach and the training team around her, because she should have been prepared, while training for trials, to shift her mindset. And to KNOW they were gonna test her every chance they got. To me, it's a failure on *their* part
