The First Defence Minister of India was a Sikh and he was REMOVED as he went against Nehru and joined hands with Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel in Liberation of Hyderabad.
#SardarBaldevSingh was born on 11 July 1902 in Punjab. His father was Sir Indra Singh, a reputed industrialist
who had factories at Jamshedpur and present day Bangladesh.
Though born Ultra Rich, Baldev Singh had other aspirations..
He envisioned Independent India and Uplifting Jat’s, by 1930s he joined Shiromani Akali Dal and became close to Master Tara Singh.
During Quit India Movement
Baldev Singh refused to join and formed Provincial Punjab Govt along with Muslim League.
(Search for my thread about Master Tara Singh for further details)
Baldev Singh was chosen again to represent the Sikh viewpoint to the Cabinet Mission Plan that had arrived to discuss
proposals for Indian political independence. Singh reiterated the Sikh view that India should remain a united country with special protections for the rights of religious minorities. Singh also insisted that should partition become inevitable, the division of the Punjab should
happen in a way to offer territorial protection to the Sikhs from Muslim domination.
Along with Vallabhbhai Patel, the Home Minister, Singh became responsible for leading Indian Army's efforts to provide security, relief and refuge to over 10 million Hindus and Sikhs who were
leaving the newly created Pakistan. Terrible violence broke loose on both sides of the frontier along the Punjab and Bengal, and to date it is estimated that over 1 million Hindus and Sikhs were killed, with millions more suffering from usual acts of cruelty and great physical
and personal trauma from the migration.
The Army was caught unprepared, and itself was torn apart by the conflict. Thousands of Muslim officers were leaving for Pakistan. Riots had broken out in Calcutta, Delhi and Bombay. Patel and Singh led from the front, and despite a heavy
toll, the Army finally re-asserted peace and rule of law all over India and the borders of Punjab and Bengal. They organized massive relief and aid operation for the millions of people arriving in India & Sardar Baldev Singh settled thousands of Sikhs and Punjabi families in
Punjab during the partition of the country in 1947 by giving them free land.
The Defence Minister Singh also led the preparations and planning for war in Kashmir, which had broken out with Pakistani tribesmen and some military officers had incursed into the state with the aim
of annexing it into Pakistan. Over almost two years, the Indian Army would wage battle with the terrorists and the Pakistan Army at the highest altitudes in the world. The Army succeeded in pushing back the raiders from Srinagar and beyond the Baramulla Pass, but with Nehru's
declaration of a cease-fire under the supervision of the United Nations, a considerable portion of territory now lay under the firm control of the Pakistani Army, and the Kashmir conflict was born.
In Sept 1948, under the instructions of the Home Minister Vallabhbhai Patel
Baldev Singh and his commanders prepared plans for #OperationPolo, a week-long operation that annexed the princely state of Hyderabad into the Indian Union. Singh remained a close advisor to Patel on managing the Kashmir conflict and the issues of Political Integration of India.
Baldev Singh was removed from the post of defense minister "As Nehru lost confidence in the political integrity of Baldev Singh."
Sardar Baldev Singh got elected to parliament twice in 1952 and 1957 from Congress but didn’t join Nehru cabinet but remained the major political
representative of the Sikh concerns.
Sardar Baldev Singh had made invaluable contribution in setting up Nankana Sahib Educational Trust, Guru Nanak Engineering College Ludhiana and many other educational institutions and was instrumental in making Chandigarh as Punjab’s capital.
On 29th June 1961, Singh passed away in Delhi after a prolonged illness.
It may be mentioned here that Sardar Baldev Singh was the National President of the All India Jat Maha Sabha in 1946-47 at the time of Partition and present President is Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh.
If partition of the country became inevitable, Baldev wanted re-demarcation of the boundaries of the Punjab, slicing off the Muslim-dominated divisions of Rawalpindi and Multan to secure for the Sikhs the balance of power in the remaining Punjab.
The Cabinet Mission proposal in
May 1946, which conceded substantially the Muslim claim to autonomy, was rejected by the Sikhs who decided to boycott the entire move. On Jawaharlal Nehru’s appeal, the Panthic Pratinidhi Board, at a meeting on August 14, 1946, while reiterating that the Cabinet Mission scheme
was unjust to the Sikhs, retracted its boycott of it.
Nehru Gandhi never kept their word and 1000s of Hindus & Sikhs who believed that they will join Bharat and no need to migrate were butchered by Jihadis.
Sardar Baldev Singh had this pain till his death.
It must be recorded
that the leadership of the Sikh community comprising Master Tara Singh, Giani Kartar Singh and Sardar Baldev Singh made the best of the bargain for the community in the worst of circumstances.
Sardar Baldev Singh brought about the required change in the defence services. He was
responsible for enunciating a truly national Army, which became the pride of India. He completely Indianised the services.

Why does Ecosystem never recalls some names?
Because, once you reveal a name, than people will dig into it.
Belated tributes to Sankaran Nair who went to England & took Jallianwalabagh massacres to court.
An introduction for the unsung hero of this tweet...
” When the only
Bharatiya in the viceroy’s council made his way back to Madras after his resignation, it was an ovation all the way, the like of which had never been seen before in India. There were feasts and entertainments wherever the train stopped and crackers were fired under the wheels
of the railway, so much so that there was one continuous firing for hours.”
126 Years back, he was the Congress President and till date, the only Malayali who held the reins of Congress.
Sir C Sankaran Nair was born on 11-07-1857, at Mankara, Kerala.
Starting as an advocate in

We all have heard that #JyotiBasu lost the chance of becoming PM & I Thank God For That.
Just after the 1962 war, Jyoti Basu proclaimed publicly at a rally that “China cannot be the aggressor.”
This mean character served as Chief Minister for 23 years 4 months and 17 days from
1977 to 2000.
On his birthday, let me introduce to his killings of industry & people.
Much before they came to power in 1977, the CPI-M started experimenting with murder as a political instrument way back in 1970 when they murdered 2 important Congress workers belonging to the
Sain family of Burdwan. The level of bestiality that they stooped down to was evident by the fact that
they made the mother of the two Sain brothers eat rice drenched with the blood of her dead sons. As a result the mother lost her mental balance from which she could not recover

The Truth Behind #SuitBootKiSarkar.

On the occasion of death anniversary of #DhirubhaiAmbani, let us read how Indira & Co helped a clerk of Aden to become Polyster Prince of India or in other words Evolution of SuitBootKiSarkar with the help of Congress & Pranab Mukherjee.
When Congress was split into two, most big business of those days had sided with Congress (O) and Indira wanted her own moneybags whom she could trust and this was possible in the licence-permit raj where entrepreneurship could be engineered. A number of businessmen grew up
thanks to her largesse among them Dhirubhai Ambani, Kapal Mehra of Orkay.
DBA was a shrewd businessman but the initial help he got made Dhirubhai realise the power of the government. It could make or break business & with the sarkar on your side you could always be on the make.
