This is the greatest affront to sustaining human life. Whether the venues are all closed to spectators or not, bringing together athletes and related personnel from around the world on the scale of tens of thousands of people should not be allowed to take place during a pandemic.
If the Olympics go ahead, Tokyo will become a huge epicenter of infection. And if athletes and personnel bring the virus back to their own countries, it would lead to further loss of human life.
What is needed now is not for us to get together to play sports, but rather, to stay away from each other as much as possible in order to bring an end to this pandemic and save human lives.
I am simply perplexed by the fact that such simple thing cannot be fathomed by such great leaders of IOC, the Government of Japan, and Tokyo Metropolitan Government. And this makes me angry too.
From the beginning, PCR testing in Japan has not been sufficient at all. In addition, we have been unable to increase the number of sick beds dedicated for infectious disease.
Even today, fewer than 20% have received full doses of the vaccine. While there is a locally-made effective drug known as Ivermectin, clinical tests have not been conducted yet.
Japan is not even doing the bare minimum that a host country of Olympics should be doing. But I believe there’s a reason for this.
Japan has been fortunate in not having that many people die from the COVID. Therefore, I believe that the Japanese people are being complacent, not being aware of how terrifying the pandemic truly is.
And the leaders, who completely lack the imagination, have made the unthinkable, reckless decision to hold the Olympics.
The Olympics is the last thing we should be having in the middle of the greatest disaster of all time, the COVID-19 pandemic. In other words, it should be treated as a taboo for the sake of humanity.
In particular, COVID-19 further marginalizes the vulnerable in every way possible. Women and those who are economically fragile are those that suffer, first and foremost.
Holding the Olympics, with the prediction that these things would happen, must be stopped by, not only us Japanese, but with the help and support from people around the world.
This is the greatest affront to sustaining human life.

#Tokyo2020 Athletes. 🇯🇵 Tokyo is under #StateOfEmergency until August 22 for the full duration of the Games. Experts predict #COVID19 cases will DOUBLE by the end of July. SERIOUSLY, don't be a part of an 'affront to humanity'. #SaveLivesNotTheOlympics
