Snapshot of #EUSS issues @GyrosOrg drop-in yesterday ππ. TLDR: technical glitches, decision delays, ID verification backlog, late applications and job/income losses due to these technical glitches. A frontline snapshot of #EUSS support. 𧡠@fiona_costello@CSBarnard24 1/9
Portuguese woman π΅πΉ who had applied in Feb 2020 and was still waiting on a decision. Said she already called the Resolution Centre and was told her application was still being processed. She didn't know what to do about this delay, so came to GYROS for advice. 2/9
Automated messages causing lots of confusion. Appears to be a backlog w/ ID verification. Some people coming in worried their IDs have been lost when they receive an automated message asking them to please send their ID- which they have already sent. 3/9
Lithuanian national π±πΉ applied via paper app. Rec'd letter confirming settled status award. Unable to access status online- says ID does not match. So cannot get share code. Agency worker in factory- told not to come in to work again until he can provide a share code. 4/9
Lithuanian national π±πΉ applied on 28th June and still has not received a CoA. Called the Res Centre- advised she needs to wait. W/out CoA she cannot prove her right to work. Has also been told by Agency not to come in until she can provide a share code. Income has stopped. 5/9
For both these clients, both Agency factory workers, both paying rent, this sudden loss of income causes serious issues. @GyrosOrg have supported both with food parcels, phoned Agency, and will work to unpick their status/app issues. Meanwhile rent arrears etc will build. 6/9
@GyrosOrg staff are still working through submitted applications for those who need to submit further evidence with many clients in attendance yday bringing supporting evidence for GYROS to upload/submit. The deadline has passed, but many applications are ongoing. 7/9
One π΅πΉ family with x4 children all of whom need to make apps to the scheme. Family were reluctant to apply as they didn't want to send off their IDs. Not fully understanding the urgency of the app/necessity of applying & fearful of the backlog. 8/9
One π±πΉ man who couldn't wait at the drop-in to see an adviser as he needed to make his bus to get to his factory shift, said he would lose his job if he missed his shift. Told advisers he will come back next week to apply for #EUSS 9/9 END

Snapshot of issues from #EUSS drop-in yesterday in Gt. Yarmouthπ. Week 2/5 final drop-ins before deadline β°. General: the gov.uk site was down, letters from DWP + UC updates causing panic and distress and delays continue π§΅1/8
The site was down meaning case workers could not help some clients to make their application. This will cause delays and made people who will need to rely on the digital status in the future anxious about its reliability. 2/8
Some clients have received letters from DWP asking about their status or need to update their UC journal about their status. This was causing panic and distress for some, v.worried their benefits might stop esp. for those who have submitted apps but are waiting decisions 3/8
