BREAKING NEWS. “[Ballot image] Audit of 2020 Election in Volusia County [Florida] Reveals Flaws in [ES&S] Voting System.” h/t Ray Lutz & @susanpynchon1. 1/
“Equipment Vendor Elections Systems & Software should explain these security and quality issues.”
“Transparency award to be presented to Volusia Election Supervisor Lisa Lewis and Staff” 2/
The audit was conducted by Citizens Oversight, a nonprofit founded by Ray Lutz. Yes, I consider Lutz trustworthy. I interviewed him here. I’m not affiliated with his organization but know Ray through the election integrity community. 3/
I don’t know which party, if either, benefited from the discrepancies. Even if one or the other benefited,
w/o a meaningful STATEWIDE audit, it’s impossible 2 draw broad conclusions. Miami Dade, Seminole County, Broward, & other large Florida counties destroyed their images. 4/
Note how Lutz’s press release does NOT assume “fraud” or call for a revolution. This is the way to responsibly report these types of issues. Steve Bannon, Trump, & their apologists would disapprove bc they are reckless bad faith hucksters who want bloodshed. 5/
This seems to be the key finding. “The voting equipment, provided by [ES&S] maintains two independent internal tabulations that may become inconsistent…” The report considers this a security risk and calls on @essvote to explain why their system does this. 6/
The other key finding is that the ballot image audit worked as a proof of concept. This may be our only viable option to try to discover fraud and error, if any, in 2022. State & federal lawmakers have failed to prioritize & pass laws requiring meaningful manual audits. 7/
Lutz offered to conduct a STATEWIDE ballot image audit in Arizona, but Rs there have so far turned him down. Which is telling. Republicans only want “audits” where & in a manner that they they think will further their narrative. That is the definition of propaganda. 8/
I’ll try to post more on this later today. 9/
TY to @vcelections for furthering election transparency! This is fantastic. 10/

“Those who served in the GOP have a greater burden to tell the truth about what their party has become. Those who know that the voter suppression laws masquerading as election integrity measures are solutions in search of problems have a duty to sound the alarm.” 2/
“The story of our times is understanding how one of the two major political parties became addicted to the same disinformation and anti-democratic practices it once rebuked in foreign countries and why its base has so eagerly embraced this disastrous pivot.” 3/

Before the 2000 election, Katherine Harris used a faulty felon list to illegally purge between 1100 & 12k properly registered voters from the voter rolls. This alone may have sufficed to throw the election to Bush who “won” by just 537 votes in Florida. tampabay.com/news/politics/…
😳”Increasingly, this is the world that the term ‘evangelical voter’ refers to—not white-haired Southern Baptists,” but a younger more diverse world “drawn to leaders who believe they are igniting a new Great Awakening,” whose “epicenter is Texas.” 1/ washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/07…

Gerrymandering may have beaten voter suppression to the punch. How can we possibly re-win gerrymandered state legislatures?! We NEEDED to control Congress to counteract & survive this semi-cold civil war. We failed bc Manchin & Sinema suck. 1/
I really really recommend that the Democrats check to make sure the GOP didn’t cheat in Senate races. Based on exit polls, it is not obvious either way. We shld just check to make sure bc otherwise we have no other moves. 2/
Based on exit polls, we should have won the senate race in North Carolina - yes, despite the scandal. It was close. We shld check. Ditto Montana. I think I have this right - @JonathanSimon14 3/
First, vendors & officials lied about internet connectivity to voting systems. When the lie was exposed, @EACgov promised to ban the modems that enable such connectivity. Then they met privately w/ vendors & changed their mind. Now they’ve been sued. 1/ apnews.com/article/busine…
You can see some of the people who lied about internet connectivity in this preelection video that I prepared w/ producer @KateRosenberg4. 2/
