Kula devatā- A technical analysis and probe for Kula devatā
Kula means clan and devatā means deities. So kula devatā is the deity of the clan. It is first layer of protection and also the first step to any higher level puja. Every higher order deity can bless you only when the
power within you (Kuladevī & Iṣṭadevatā) is pleased. Otherwise, even Brahma himself cannot give you any boon, this law of nature is explained in Gita. That is the very reason why before initiation, the sadhus are asked to worship their Kuladevī & Iṣṭadevatā and take their
permission.
Our protective cover is Kuladevī / Kuladevtā
Kuladevtā is our protective cover who fights and stops any external obstacle, negative energy before entering the family or person. It also warns from time to time about family rituals and moral conduct. One who worships
any Iṣṭha without remembering Kuladevtā, his prayers will not reach the iṣṭha. This is because these deities are bridge for spiritual progress and no prayers to them causes the bridge to stop working. As a result external obstacles, malpractices etc., negative energy starts
reaching the person without any hindrance. Sometimes the worship of iṣṭha being done by individuals or families gets consumed by some other external energy, that is, worship neither goes to the iṣṭha nor does it grants any benefit. This happens because of the absence of
powerful Kuladevtā (who is not being awaken in your heart).
Do kuladevtā harm us?
Also remember that Kuladevtā never harms anyone. The reason for the obstacles created by not worshiping the Kuladevī is not the Kuladevī herself but the breakdown of our protection wheel. Goddesses
or deities become full of power when we do offerings from time to time and worship them regularly. When we stop worshiping Kuladevtā then they become mute observers and their powers are reduced and as such a family is subjected to problems.
Why do people forget their Kuladevī or Kuladevtā?
Due to shifting of families to one another place, conversion of religion, being displaced by the fear of invaders, untimely death of the elderly person, the development of heterogeneity, etc, many families have lost their paternal
deity or simply forgot the goddess or they did not know who their deity/goddess is or how they are worshiped. Also there are families living in cities for generations and also some self-proclaimed modern believers looking for science in everything Those too in the pride of their
knowledge or in the pride of their present good condition left their kuladevtā or did not pay attention to them.
How a deity does become a Kuladevī or Kuladevtā?
When there is a lineage & tradition to worship the powers of gods and godlike human beings (Kuladevī & Iṣṭadevatā)
to free their family from negative forces, then those powers and humans became the Kuladevī or Kuladevtā of those clans. They are near to family and also the primary deities of every puja.
Our ancestors worshiped specific supernatural powers in the form of Kuladevī to protect
their family from negative energies and obstacles arising from them. This power used to prevent negative energy from creating obstacles and obstacles in the progress of that lineage. And the worship of that Kuladevī became a tradition from generation to generation in that dynasty
. Hence the reason for a particular Kuladevī or Kuladevtā.
How do we find out Kuladevta /Kuladevi of a clan- Process and requirements?
We perform astamanglya Praśna which is a very divine process to ascertain the Kuladevtā or Kuladevī of a clan. During the process deities are
invoked and enquired about the Kuladevtā. Sometimes unknown Kuladevtā are been asked to help in the session. It is a tedious and time consuming process and requires following:
1.The knowledge about gotra, clan, lineage. Even if the caste is changed.
2.Special offerings to
deities and arrangements of special puja.
3.The place of origin or city or village the person belongs to.
4.The elders need to be asked for verification.
5.The knowledge of present location.
You can only order this report if you are aware of all the above. The process take two
three or even five days to complete and may involve more than one Praśna session. It is not a hasty process so if you are in a hurry please do not order this report. The report will be calculated after Pooja and will be emailed to the person.

Yog, prāṇāyāma and Spiritual Progress
While reading an ancient classic on Yog, I came across nāḍī śodhana (years back). It is not even called prānayama in text and the process is very different than the one which is running at global level (as Anulom viloma). The interesting
part is that the Maharṣi proclaims that one has to practice this for three months or years (unless he/she hears a nada sound in ears). No yog posture should be tried before this is complete. Trying yog before accomplishing cleaning is like applying race while holding the clutch
at the same time. It will not work and will have long term problems as well.
Yet, what we see today are short term courses on yog which are completed in fifteen days. These courses, camps are like teaching formulae one racing to a toddler. The cars are sure to collide.

The deep secret of Praśna and the aftermaths of imprudent questions/ Real Incidents
The secrets of answers by ḍevthas.
Praśna or deva pṛcchaka samagama (meeting of divine and the questioner) is not an ordinary process. The cowries that represents the Moon (mind) are moved by
the ḍaivagya (astrologer) but they are not just rotated ordinarily.
The clockwise motion requires the ḍevthas invoked by the astrologer to enter the area where the question is been asked (in reality). This moment can only be understood by a real ḍaivagya who can feel the
movement in spine or presence of ḍevthas during question. So basically jyotiṣī is invoking divine for answering the questions of the seeker. That Praśna is useless where the ḍevthas are not felt during session and that will never give correct answers.
The real answers will
(Real life incident) many people, birds and animals are my Guru. However, there is no Guru in person. According to sastras one should worship Sri Dakṣiṇamūrti and Sri Ḍattatreya as Guru. Sri Dakṣiṇamūrti is form of Siva and is considered ādi Guru.
According to Sri Raman Maharishi, Dakṣiṇā does not refer to direction one meaning of Ḍakśina is efficient; another meaning is ‘in the heart on the right side of the body’; amūrti ’means Formlessness’. “Ḍakśinmoorthy Strotram" in Sanskrit, means the "Shapelessness situated on
the right side.
For worship one can recite Sri Dakṣiṇamūrti strotram daily or just remember him with heart visualizing him through Dhyāna mantra and pic. Then one should offer flowers, ḍeepa, dhupa and gaṃdha etc. in visual manner. This manas Dhyāna is powerful but requires
Besides predicting about future, an astrologer has many moral obligations as well. One of the strongest duty is to be honest with the person who are seeking us. We should treat them with respect and should deal with utmost honesty.
It is important because we are been assigned an important duty by the divine power. This role includes guiding others towards the right direction. It is not meant for misleading others. We are just like doctors who can be a spirit of Divinity or could be following malpractices.
Besides a thorough education in this branch, we also require some minor know how in psychology and other branches of science. The divine role given to us is important so that God can persuade his seekers towards the right path. If we fail to do our duties, then we would be
Usually jyotiśa is considered as simple reading from natal chart which is fine because it can give us good insights into problems. However, in Praśna the deities are invoked and the question of the seeker is put in front of the deities. This is an
intricate process and people sometimes fail to understand the implications.
You see these Gods and Goddesses are very smart. If you ask them wrong question, you will get the answer but not the right answer.
For example, in a family of five brothers, all their children were
males. The question was whether they can get a female issue?
To this the answer simply came no. You see the question should have been what is the cause of having male issues only? Or what is the cause of curse and how to remove it? But it was never asked and so the deities do not
Sri Rama and the story of a dog, the pitfalls in good deeds (Saints, cows & children).
Once a dog and a pundit reached the court of Sri Rama. They needed arbitration and judgement regarding a dispute. The dog was severely lashed by the pundit. When Sri Rama inquired for the
reason, the pundit shared the story of how the dog followed him and bit him on his leg.
However, the dog was beaten mercilessly in response which was not the dharma and the case went against Pundit. The dog was asked to give him punishment. The dog told the court that there is a
particular hermitage at so and so place and the pundit should be given the post of the head clergyman of monastery. The Pundit was astonished by the gift and left the court very happily.
When the pundit left, then Sri Rama inquired from the dog, for the kind of his blessings in
