Thread: Descriptions of European ISIS are always interesting, how they turn the adults into "trapped" victims; no one forced thousands of privileged people from wealthiest EU countries to travel to poor Syria and Iraq to enslave, colonize, genocide locals. Adults aren't "trapped"
The adult women trapped themselves. They came from the MOST privileged countries in the world and illegally crossed into Syria and sometimes Iraq, traded in slaves and genocide. It's like pretending former Nazis were "trapped" after the Shoah because they couldn't travel freely
There are trapped people, such as the millions abused and whose lives were ruined and harmed by ISIS. They don't get much support. In fact in terms of coverage one European will get more coverage than millions in Syria and Iraq.
This shows the ongoing nature of colonial mentalities that puts one group over another. It's true that the children are innocent and deserve support. But those children are not worse off than other children in the camp who are from Iraq, for instance.
The entire ISIS conflict has been one of privilege, the privilege that those who genocide enjoy not only from media attention, often ignoring their responsibility and crimes, right up to the present.
The amazing thing is that those being repatriated, if the adults will get up tomorrow and illegally invade another country and squat there and then become "trapped" as European privileged citizens they will again get the spotlight.
Not only that but the "trapped" label is entirely a fabrication, the SDF have been asking EU privileged countries to take these people back. It is EUROPE that trapped them there, asking the SDF to hold them, not wanting them to fall to regime hands or be deported to Iraq
I'm sure some of the Nazis who surrendered at Stalingrad also felt "trapped" after. But no one forced them to invade several countries and genocide their way across those places. Those buried in mass graves, whether in 1941 or in Iraq in 2014 are truly trapped. Forever.
Here is a message for these countries and the media that are worried that Europeans may become trapped: Next time tell your citizens to stay home and not invade other countries and prey on them and illegally go to Syria and Iraq. Stay home in wealthy Belgium.
But in 2014 the same people shouting "trapped" and "Europeans are stuck in Syria"...didn't tell their fellow citizens not to go. No Europeans are trapped in Syria. You have some privileged people who illegally went there. And some innocent children who deserve care.
To avoid having EU citizens get "trapped" again the EU can enact policies that prevent citizens from invading other countries and genociding innocent people. But we likely won't see anyone take responsibility for going to Syria and becoming "trapped."
I'm tired of all the programs that whitewash the privileged who travelled to harm poor people in Iraq and Syria, that ignore the locals and raise up the "Europeans" or "American ISIS" as if only westerners deserve full descriptions.
Modern day colonialism was part of the ISIS manifesto. It privileged westerners and the fetish that the westerners got from their own societies was part of that. Imagine if all the documentaries and programs instead focused on the victims, the colonized, the genocided?
I understand that the same thing happened in 1945, the Eichmanns always got to walk away and got the privilege after of long reports about how they deserve "human rights"...many fascist supporters from places like Belgium took off their uniform and went back to normal life.
From Nazism to ISIS the same concept tends to be used. Victims often forgotten, perpetrators and their adult collaborators go back to normal life. And if those people have to sit in an IDP came for a bit, they are "trapped."
Also one last point: Note how they use the term "Kurdish" to insinuate they are "trapped" by Kurds. Note how when ISIS was doing genocide, the same media didn't give ISIS an ethnic description.

There are some recent claims about this bridge, I noticed that the previous Israeli government was not critiqued about this and even members of that government are now coming out suddenly to critique the new Israeli government which was in power only a month 🤔
So you notice that the same political voices now shouting about this and bringing up Meron….are the SAME ones who said nothing before the Meron disaster and were on board with having nothing done about it and no investigations…but now suddenly they bring it up?
Odd how this bridge was not used to try to stoke a crisis with Jordan and the PA in Jerusalem under the last government, but suddenly became a risk in June 2021. Bridges don’t become unsafe overnight, if it was unsafe it was unsafe for years….nothing was done

Strong words from Israel's new FM on this Golan issue; Foreign Minister Yair Lapid in response to reports on the Golan Heights:

"The Golan Heights are a strategic asset and integral part of the sovereign State of Israel."
Lapid: "The US has recognized our sovereignty over the Golan Heights and their strategic importance to Israel’s security. Anybody who spreads rumours about the cancelation of this recognition harms security and the declaration of sovereignty..."
"...and is willing (not for the first time) to bring about real damage to the State of Israel and endanger its security and relations with the US, just in order to harm the new government."

In naval strategy when you are trying to hide in the high seas you try not to tell your adversaries where you are...that's why Admiral Nelson had a heck of a time in 1798; marinesol.org/nelsons-pursui…
