Watching "How to Become a Dictator" on @netflix (which is good other than the periodic inclusion of a Bell Curve enthusiast...) Reached the part where Stalin imposed a State-friendly, sanitized version of patriotic "history" on schools and media. Sounds like the American right...
They even banned Sherlock Holmes and shut down or burned libraries, to “protect young minds” from “dangerous ideas.” Natch!!
Now we’re onto the “useful idiots” in the U.S. and Great Britain who Stalin used to legitimize his autocratic regime. Including using propaganda and media access to his advantage. And also twisting religion to his devices. Yay!!
Sorry—How to become a TYRANT. Tomato-Mussolini… anywhomst they need to add a Trump episode…

It’s the slavery math! One slaveholding founding father has say, 500 slaves. Even if his goodly slaver wife is a prolific childbearer, Black Jeffersons, Monroes, Washingtons and Jacksons literally branded with the household name will outnumber white name bearers 500/4, 500/10 etc
I mean ask yourself: how many white Washingtons, Monroes, Jeffersons and Jacksons do you know? Pretty much everyone I've known with those last names throughout my life has been black. And it so happens that our founders were among the most prolific slaveholders of their time.
Coincidence?? I don't know. Maybe I'll check in with the #1619Project while it's still legal to read it in the People's Republic of Trumpmerica.

Black folks: most of you wouldn’t listen to ANYTHING these MAGAs told you. So why would you take the word of these people who don’t even want you to be able to vote and want to bury your history to elevate myths that erase your struggle, on vaccines and a virus that can kill you?
Do you really think some guy you saw on TikTok and Republican talking heads on Fox “News” are more credible about Black people’s health than the Black woman scientist who developed the Moderna vaccine? Come on, people. Don’t let these anti-vaxxers get you killed by COVID.
I get being nervous about the vaccines. I definitely was! When Trump did his “warp speed” thing to try to get a vaccine on the market in time for the election, my initial thought was “yeah, keep that away from me!” It took @VinGuptaMD to explain on air how they were developed…

Today’s Republican menu:
-Book bans and government mandated “patriotic education” consisting of bland euphemisms and pro-state lies
-Anti-voter laws allowing overturning elections
-Cash bounties to spy on pregnant women/force reproduction
- Violent revolution to maintain control
-Vehement attempts to beat back intellectualism, science and social liberalism, especially demands for redress of racial inequality, by demonizing them as dangerous, Marxist and communist…
-Repression of sexual minorities
-Elevation of a religious sect linked to partisan power
And preventing citizens from protecting themselves against a deadly virus which the faithful open themselves up to, to show fidelity to the political tribe by getting sick, infecting others and even dying…

Call it Talibanism, fascism, late stage Bolshevism… it’s wild.

Shorter Republicans: you have to let people infect you. At work, at school, in restaurants, shops and gyms... You will be required to let the virus in. It’s bananas crazy and likely will be lethal for God knows how many Americans, but that’s their gambit. axios.com/republicans-co…
So much for “small government conservatism.” Now it’s big, BIG government they want:
- To ban books & dictate lesson plans
- To tell businesses they can’t protect their customers from a deadly virus
- To tell social media companies who to allow on their privately-owned platforms
All of this plus barring nearly anyone who doesn’t choose the “right” party from voting, overturning any election result they don’t like and trying to force right wing religious diktats on the rest of us, particularly women. Under his eye indeed. It’s Handmaid’s Tale meets Alien.
