Back in court in 20 minutes -
former US Army Sgt Landon Copeland, appearing remotely from jail in Utah

Copeland has been awaiting competency hearing for *weeks* in his Jan 6 case (assault of police)

He tells me he believes feds are "slow walking" it to gain leverage in case Image
I have a new jailhouse phone interview with Copeland. Working through my notes and the audio right now... standby for updates

Lots to unpack
Landon Copeland tells me he's expecting the birth of a daughter later this month. And he's locked up in jail pre-trial in his Jan 6 case

Let's see if that surfaces during his court hearing this hour
This is postponed due to scheduling conflict at the Utah jail. Copeland has been frustrated by delays in his case. And those delays continue .....

Former Virginia GOP Congressman Denver Riggleman is on Capitol Hill (just spotted)

Riggleman has been reportedly under consideration to help the US House Select Committee to Investigate January 6th
Noting this: On January 5, 2021 - Riggleman warned of a possible "Charlottesville"-type incident was imminent at Capitol
Rep Riggleman represented a very red district in Virginia. He has a background in intelligence/security issues

He also has strong relationships on the Hill from his recent tenure there

Alam of Texas is accused of breaking the window at the Speaker's Lobby

Alam is trying to dump his lawyer and take over his own defense
"I choose to speak for myself", Alam tells court

Court warns him not to.

"(Prosecutor) will not be able to convince jury that i possessed dangerous weapon on January 6. I can prove that," Alam said
Alam just told court - "I want (prosecutor) to offer me a deal right now... She needs to start doing her job and offer me a deal"

!! ALERT - Jan 6 defendant Pauline Bauer just told a judge she's a "Soverign citizen" and not subject to the court's laws.

And she keeps interrupting judge. Getting ugly in this proceeding
Bauer: "I think the American people will be shocked to find out who owns the Capitol building right now"

Judge cut her off.... possibly for the betterment of everyone
Bauer -- who just declared herself a sovereign citizen to court -- refuses to answer "yes" when judge asks her if she understands him

She says instead she "comprehends" it

Not sure what's behind that word choice

Prosecutors recommend 18 months in prison for this Jan 6 defendant

Probation office recommends 15 months in prison

Judge has already dismissed another request from defendant to shift "downward" the possible sentence

Standby for updates... sentencing soon
Prosecutors are agreeing to waive financial fines against Hodgkins, citing his financial situation
Feds say one of the "disturbing" factors in Hodgkins case is that he sought to disrupt the functioning of government

Prosecutor also says "his presence at well of Senate holding his big flag, his backpack, his rope.... amount to intimidation"
