The problem with @INCIndia policy makers is that they created monster systems and thought that they will remain benign.

But they became a tool of oppression, surveillance and subjugation at the hands of a tyrant regime whether it is Aadhaar, UAPA, NIA, etc.
The arrogance of power made many of the ruling elite in UPA-2 made them stop listening to the dissenting voices, which is the most essential requirement in a democracy to weigh & view the facets they don't consider.

They let Nilekkanni type brokers to have a say on many policies
Most of our legal frameworks used to push in the guise of nationalism, terrorism, security, welfare etc, without deliberating its possible misuses.

There is a tendency in Parliament to push federalism to the corner whether it is GST or Dam Safety or many matters...
Many States concede their space of legislative space to the Centre for either in the name of a more superior structure or mere an apex organisation is better.

We forget why the framers of Constitution created the State List and a balance in the system to act as checks& balances
What I see mostly is that in many State subjects almost all of the States fail to equip their bureaucrats/technocrats with national/international exposure.

So these people remain as parochial & frogs in that proverbial well.

I seen that in my area of profession, water sector
If you take health also, how many States directly deal with international institutions?

Do States have any think tanks on their legislative domain?

Many journalists/politicians think if its Central means its superior w/o understanding such templates will not solve real pbms
We are simply transferring the problem to a Babu sitting in Delhi rather than solving it in your own State or decentralise it to your 3 tier system.

This over centralisation in the name of superior/national became a normal!

Why we can't create better systems in State subjects?
National security to superior systems may be needed but with all checks and balances.

They should not be a short cut for over centralisation and defeat the very purpose of addressing our diverse issues
Do you recall someone in INC sold @RahulGandhi about the monetisation of health data as an economic good during last election time!

Who damn bother about privacy!

Nilekkanni type brokers are now selling National Health ID to DNA bill for the vulture global pharmas!

Data data
Don't blame the politicians, it is we who stopped demanding Governance and started to fall for some gimmicks and greed.

No one cared about competitive systems which will really deliver on the ground and improve the society and uplift it.

We are parochial & short sighted.
Most of the checks and balances cave in when tyranny started dictating.

If you are a student of history, you can easily grapple this sad truth.

We fantasise about strong man, centralised systems covered in pseudo national pride..and let all of this to trample us mercilessly!
Recollect how AAPians justify Kejriwal pervasive video surveillance ideas!

Once we start held cult leaders in reverence, we stop thinking logically and cede everything for them for a "better" tomorrow!

After getting very heavy rainfall at Valparai & Nirar, Tamil Nadu Sholayar crossed its full capacity and started spilling through masonry spillway to Kerala #Monsoon2021
For the time being, no flooding threat as Kerala Sholayar has plenty of space to accommodate possible spill and Chalakudy river is much below warning level
We are in close coordination with TN authorities and the situation is monitored closely.

So need of any panic here.

You increased the Excise duty on Petrol from Rs. 9.48/litre in 2014 to Rs.32.90/litre now.

When global crude oil prices fell, you raised taxes & did not pass the benefits to people.

Now instead of blaming global crude price, try to ameliorate some pain of people!
Also in MMS era UPA spent around 10-11% of revenue as fuel subsidies, so they systematically deregulated petrol prices.

But Modi Govt instead of passing the benefits to deregulated petrol prices to people started taxing heavily.

Now
Look at Union Budget 2021-22, the total revenue receipts is 34.12 lakh crores & the excise duty from fuel comes 3.35 lakh crores, that is almost 10%.

Since you lack imagination to tax & also help your cronies, you gone for the shortcut of taxing heavily every single person!

Rather than using numbers as a critical tool to inform policymaking, Modi and his ruling Bharatiya Janata party treat data as an important input for a political narrative about Modi leading India to its rightful place in the pantheon of world powers.
Inconvenient figures that may undermine these claims are either twisted, or buried.

The BJP’s creative use of numbers has made a bad situation worse.

“The BJP understands that the common man in general doesn’t really understand data.

They decide what the dominant narrative should be;

they try to find data that would support it, and they try to suppress data that would counter it.”

Covid-19 vaccination drive moves at a slow pace in populous states.

This @htTweets article quotes me on vaccination data

hindustantimes.com/india-news/vac…
“This data shows the enormous task ahead for us is to completely vaccinate 97% of the remaining population. We still need 2.4 billion doses to vaccinate the unvaccinated,” said Jamesh Wilson, a Kerala-based independent researcher, who juxtaposed the vaccination data.
@MoHFW_INDIA data showed that progress of vaccination was abysmally low in Bihar, UP and Madhya Pradesh, which account for 32.2% of India’s population.

These States combined have so far vaccinated only 1.51% of their population with both doses. Only 5.91% people got single jab.

I created a map with death per lakh of population (DPL) of Indian States using @MoHFW_INDIA data

Population of as of March 2001 (projected) from National Commission on Population Report, 2019 (Table 8) is used.

Official DPL of various states is quite baffling #Thread
Highest DPL is from Goa (131.88), followed by Delhi (103.27) & Maharashtra (64.70)

DPL of Bihar is 3.04, followed by UP (7.47), Telangana (7.76) & Madhya Pradesh (8.18).

This huge disparity between DPL shall be analysed with anecdotal evidence now before us recently.
Take first Delhi, though Delhi recorded 2nd highest DPL, many activists as well as media outlets bring how Delhi tried to suppress the death numbers.

Latest story is from @the_hindu where they allege that 4500 numbers are missing from official data thehindu.com/news/national/…

UP has a population of 23.09 crores..

Out of that single dose vaccine is 1.15 crores (4.98%) & if we take second dose of 32.57 lakhs (1.41%)
Compare this with its neighbour Uttarakhand, another BJP ruled State

They vaccinated 16.88% of their population with single dose & 5.96% got second dose.
Even Mamaji in MP fared in comparison with model CM Bisht.

8.75% of first dose & 2.00% got second dose.
