Sgt. Aquilino Gonell made me cry with his account of what he went through on January 6. He’s going to need rehab for at least another year. He said “that day (in part) at the Capitol was worse than his time during the war in Iraq”…….WORSE

He reminds everyone of his time dealing with “dicey” situations and that on January 6 was “anything he had every seen or imagined at the Capitol by an ARMED MOB…ARMED MOB. He was called a traitor, tased, beaten, and more.

Why did I run to help? “Because I simply could not ignore the call for help”. He had never seen anything like the scene he saw when he arrived to at the Capitol.
(He is emotional and level headed, clear and concise)

He told people that had to hold the line. No one volunteered to take a break. They continued to fight back in the tunnel. He was dragged from the line and into the crowd, the mob screamed “I got one”. He was beaten. People shouted “Get his gun”

He was electrocuted with a taser. What happened that tragic day is that it happened. He did his job and got called a traitor for it. He suffered a heart attack. He survived and his daughters saw him again.
(He calls out Congresspeople and says it’s DISGRACEFUL)

He was taunted and they called his wife a “whore”.

Lots of verbal assaults - “Boys in Blue” “Storm Troopers” “Traitors”
Attacked when they arrived at the terrace. Cut off from leadership.
“You will die on your knees”.
As he moved forward, his group was separated by an attack. “The terrorist threw something at me”

Officers helped him. Left for the West Terrace. Terrorists were breaking whatever they could to use as weapons.

Christian flags were seen, Thin blue line flags seen, held by terrorists. Trump flags. People wanted his gear. Taunted him. They continued to fight back. They rested. They moved again to assist.

The terrorists were at the doors. They moved forward, he moved to the Front Line. Stolen shields. Once he secured his position in the door, he was taunted and put pressure on the door, grabbed his gas mask and beat his head against the door

He continued to get beat by the man holding his gas mask, until it was pulled off, pressure on the door was enormous and his baton was stolen by the man who stole his mask. He was beaten.
He was extricated from the position and fell back. He rested and returned.

He notes that on the upper landing, the terrorists looked like they were getting tired, mostly began yelling. He felt his injuries and fell back to rest.
He left at 1AM.
