McChrystal adopted a little-known concept—a joint interagency task force (JIATF)—a “model for whole-of-government problem-solving by fostering organizational collaboration,” it seeks to overcome the “tendencies of agencies to seek autonomy rather than interagency collaboration.”
The key, explained McChrystal, was “we shared things they would not have otherwise had access to. . Suddenly, they learned we weren’t just consumers of their intelligence; we were providers of our intelligence,” which was a treasure trove of information.

Title: “Risk: A Users Guide”

Takeaway: we’re not doing a good job of protecting ourselves due to the fact WE didn’t unite as a country, he said. Rather, we fought dozens of ‘small wars’ as states.

The USA has separation of powers, sir.

To imply the only way we unite is by taking directive / mandates from an authoritarian & Unitarian type government is incredibly flawed.

‘If only every person and state confirmed’ — thats the translation. Checks & balances, Democracy, Bill of Rights would cease to exist.

Remembering Pat Tillman.

‘McChrystal was the head of Special Operations command in Afghanistan during Army Ranger (& former football star) Pat Tillman’s death. McChrystal was the one who approved paperwork awarding Tillman a Silver Star..’ — awarded based on a cover up.
‘This was once a big embarrassment for the army and, to a lesser extent, McChrystal himself (though he has copped to making an innocent mistake). But when the general was elevated to top spot in Afghanistan this past spring, relatively few publications revisited the affair.’
McChrystal worked with W Bush to hide the disaster. Remember, McChrystal was nominated by W Bush as Director of the Joint Staff in 2008 (W.’s final year). The senate protested the appointment, however after a private meeting with the Senate Armed Forces, he was confirmed.

So General McChrystal was praised for reaching a partnership w the Afghan government that would ensure children were given the Polio vaccine.

The unfortunate reality?

He went from local govt (Boston) to state (Missouri) to Federal. As the progression was imminent.
