Attended the public comment portion of my local school board meeting to argue for a mask mandate (for all) and a vaccine mandate (for adults/students 12+). Observations of those who spoke: 1/
Out of around 2 dozen or so who commented, around 20 were women, vs only 4 men (including myself). I was pleased to note that it was around 3:1 in favor of a mask mandate (I’m the only one who called for a vaccination mandate as well).
Of those opposed to a mandate, around 4-5 seemed like your standard “Karen types” but at least they seemed somewhat rational. The exception was one Q-Anon-ish woman who ranted about the evils of vaccines and claimed there’s “tons of evidence” that “masks don’t work”.
FWIW there’s no chance in hell that they’ll impose a vaxx requirement for the older kids it it was worth a shot. Crossing finger re vaxx mandate for the adults.
