REMINDER: Just a few weeks ago the entire conservative media (and some of the mainstream media) was praising DeSantis’ strategy of pretending COVID didn’t exist as a political masterstroke
DeSantis has gone well beyond ignoring the problem. He is actively trying to obstruct anyone in Florida — businesses, schools — from addressing the problem
CNN, 3/17: “After a year of criticism by health experts, mockery from comedians and blistering critiques from political rivals, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is standing unabashedly tall among the nation's governors on the front lines of the coronavirus fight.”
"Everyone told me I was wrong," DeSantis said in a fundraising appeal on Tuesday, drawing attention to his defiance against the pandemic. "I faced continued pressure from radical Democrats and the liberal media, but I refused to back down. It's clear: Florida got it right."

@GovDeSantis 3. DeSantis acted to prevent others in his state — local governments, schools, businesses — from taking steps to slow the spread of the deadly virus.
He mocked public health officials and catered to anti-vaxxers.
1. FBI Director Christopher Wray conducted a sham investigation of the sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh and then covered it up for two years
2. Wray established a tip line for people with information about the allegations against Kavanaugh, collected 4500 tips, apparently conducted no follow up, and forwarded "relevant" tips to the White House
3. Wray and Kavanaugh overlapped at Yale law school, worked together during the George W. Bush administration, and are both members of the right-wing Federalist Society
2. On 1/26, @Google said it "will not be making any contributions this cycle to any member of Congress who voted against certification of the election results"
In June, @Google donated 15K to the @NRCC, which is supporting the reelection of 130+ Republican objectors
3. After 1/6, @Verizon said it was “suspending contributions in 2021 to any member of Congress who voted in favor of objecting to the election results.”
1. I know we are supposed to describe the decision to get a vaccine as a "personal decision" because that makes vaccine hesitant people more comfortable but it's really not true.
The decision not to get a vaccine is a bad decision that endangers everyone else.
2. It endangers millions of kids under 12 (who are not eligible to get the vaccine) and the immunocompromised (who might not get robust protection from vaccines).
3. And it also endangers everyone by giving the virus a chance to replicate and potentially mutate to something that can evade vaccines.
