All those 11 #MIURA1 sections have different functionalities and are mated together in the final steps of the integration after individual acceptance. In some cases requires full set of acceptance test in nominal conditions before final assembly in the launch vehicle.
#MIURA1 Section 1 is the engine section and the one that holds the #TEPREL-B engine and some stage valves for propellant management. Engine is almost ready to support tests and launch. New features now in progress to improve reliability.
Section 2 has two functions, during ascent holds 4 fins that provides aerodynamic stability but also during reentry will provide braking capability via parachutes and other technologies. Also holds the FTS Subsystem.
The FTS (Flight Termination System) is critical for flight. In case of Armageddon the vehicle will be passivated. FTS is fully independent, has its own avionics, power, commanding and RF equipment. It will be armed before lift off.
Section 3-4 is the fuel tank and the Intertank 1 that holds stage equipment for propellant management, mainly kerosene and Helium valves, sensors, but also distributed avionics.
Section 5-6 is the LOX tank and intertank 2, with LOX and Helium valves, sensors and avionics. Also holds cameras for in-flight video streaming.
Section 7 holds our main high pressure Helium COPV to provide to Helium to the propulsive stage during all stages of the flight.
Section 8 is our RCS (Roll Control System) that keeps #MIURA1 in a <5deg/sec roll rate during flight. 8 nozzles with 30N thrust each powered by high pressure Nitrogen COPVs
Next week, we will perform our flight qualification tests for this RCS section at Teruel facilities. Flight pressure, full set of mission commands to allow full roll control for ascent and reenty.
Section 9 is the avionics bay, that includes the flight computer, avionics PCDUs, FTS PCDU, beacons, transponder, telemetry transmitters as well as antennas in UHF, C and S bands. Also GPS.
Section 10 holds payloads during flight and also holds MIURA1 payload computer. We provide power and real-time telemetry to our customers during flight.
Section 11 is the fairing and during maiden flight will also include experimental equipment to characterise ascent and reentry aerothermodynamics to better improve computer simulations.
Step by step, our team at @PLD_Space is doing a great job to put #Spain and #Europe in the roadmap of this new era of Space exploration . We are almost ready for our space launch. #MIURA1 goes vertical very soon. We will do it. #VAMOS!🇪🇸 🇪🇺
