As I've had my only vacation in 2+ years ethered by needing to take care of a breakthrough case whom I know to be both vaxxed and careful, I'd really like a better understanding of this too. Especially after reading this story: baltimoresun.com/opinion/op-ed/…

Again, I urge everyone to read this by a Johns Hopkins epidemiologist who went to a dinner party with 13 other vaxxed adults. 11 of whom got COVID. CDC should be tracking breakthrough cases to better hone in on risk broadly or more specifically baltimoresun.com/opinion/op-ed/…
Breakthrough cases doesn't mean vaccines don't work. The evidence (and our experience 👊🌳) overwhelmingly shows they prevent serious illness->hospitalization->death.

But there's still who you might infect! Kids under 12, the immune compromised, folks who legit CAN'T vax...
If reading about my whole saga helps to persuade anyone to vax up, and for the need for us all to wear masks certainly in indoor public places, well, here you go...

Every part of this seems insane. Not just that there will be no vax mandate for SFUSD staff but that they’re not really doing any social distancing or remote learning.
Here’s the full story on SFUSD not making teachers and staff get vaccinated, but no testing regimen for them, for students. Seems like they’re operating off a pre-Delta state of play sfchronicle.com/bayarea/articl…

1/ As someone dealing with a breakthrough infection, maybe my experience will help you process risk and encourage you to vaccinate if you haven't, and mask up regardless when around the unvaxxed, esp if they're in high density/close proximity:
2/ So my ex and our son went to a long-planned family reunion in, alas, Florida, where all family members were vaxxed but two, one of whom is a doctor (🤬🤬🤬).
3/ As Delta started to surge, both Florida and the unvaxxed relatives—which learned about a week out—was concerning, to stay the least. The compromise we arrived at: no indoor events, masks in any outdoor crows, testing before they came to meet me in CT.

Anyone else currently quarantining with their vaxxed ex who got a breakthru case in Fla before handing off vaxxed kid (so far -) and all had to flee a friend reunion b/c of (esp) an immune comped little kid and now is in a friend of friend/HERO's apt in old Bklyn hood?

Just me?
So far the only upside, aside from great friends who put this escape plan all together is i STILL know what to order from my fave restaurants in Fort Greene
Folks who've had to quarantine, esp not in their own house: what should I be ordering for health and/or sanity?
