At least 11 civilians killed. At least 42 civilians are wounded. Fighting against security belts in Kundoz city started since 2AM last night. Casualties and fatalities could be much higher, doctors in Kundoz confirms.
Docter Ihsanullah Fazly in Kundoz speaks as gunfire can be heard. Civilian casualties and fatalities. People trapped inside homes - wounded can’t be taken to hospitals, ambulances can’t go and bring the victims.
“Heavy fighting between ANDSF and Taliban in PD4 closer to the police HQS for Kundoz and the prison. A number of strategic areas in PD1 fell the Taliban.” Resident and officials in Kundoz city tells me.
“Police station 6 and police station 3 have fallen to the Taliban. Intense fighting between ANDSF and Taliban underway in many different parts of Kundoz city.” Residents and multiple sources tells me.
“Taliban have taken over the provincial governors office in Kundoz city. A number of gov offices have fallen. TB are in the city, they R in the streets, they are everywhere. Corps, airport and township leading to the airport are with the gov. Police HQs contested.” Residents say.

“Heavy fighting underway between Afghan commandos and the Taliban in Dawraaa, a township housing civilians but also government officials as well as leading the way to the airport.” A resident in the area tells me.
“At least 100 civilians were killed during the fighting in Kundoz since last night. A family of 6 lost 5 of its family members. Dead bodies on streets, inside homes.” Doctors , a government official, residents and a tribal chief in Kundoz city tells me.
“Senior Kundoz Provincial leadership barely managed to escape the center of the city towards the airport, they ran into a Taliban ambush&a after a furious fight they survived with many bodyguards and close protection wounded.” Two members of ANDSF who survived attack tells me.
“ANDSF abandoned Balay- Hisar military installation- a strategic ANDSF base where in 2015 Taliban attack against Kundoz city , the Afghan forces resisted from the base for a week.” Multiple Kundoz officials tells me.
Reports of Sporadic gunfire and fighting in parts of Kundoz city. Taliban have managed to take control of Gen Raziq square&have gained ground in Dawra township - a strategic township leading up to the airport ,senior Kundoz leadership&ANDSF inside airport, residents tells me.

Powerful explosion took place in Shirpooar area, also home to senior Afghan officials including Afghanistan’s defense minister Bismillah Khan.

#AFG “Last night rockets landed in Kandahar airport damaging the runway. We are working to fix the runway, flights will resume after we have our runway back.” An official with civil aviation at the Kandahar airport tells me.
Sporadic gunfire around Kandahar prison. Fighting continued last night around many police stations and in and around Daaand district that shares a border with Kandahar city, residents and officials tells me.
“ We can’t sleep during the night or day. Sound of explosions, heavy weapons is disturbing. ANDSF is firing the artillery from inside the city of Kandahar, children are scared.” Multiple Kandahar residents tells me.
