An exclusive interview w/Anastasia Vasilieva, #Navalny's personal doctor; a Russian opposition leader. She's facing a trial/prison sentence this week. The Kremlin's crackdown on the opposition has reached an unprecedented scale by August 2021. 🧵👇
Vasilieva is currently a defendant in the "Sanitary Case", along with nine other prominent opposition leaders (including Aleksey Navalny's brother Oleg Navalny and press secretary Kyra Yarmysh; two Pussy Riot members, including Maria Alekhina; opposition politician Lyubov Sobol.)
The hearing is on Aug 11, 2021. Vasilieva is facing a prison sentence for allegedly violating the restrictions of the parole-like regime. The defendants of the "Sanitary Case" are charged with violating pandemic regulations by calling people to attend a pro-Navalny demonstration.
Vasilieva talks about her association with Navalny and the reasons for the current repressions. Navalny's Anti-Corruption Fund is assigned a "terrorist organization" status. Many media outlets have been declared "foreign agents" and banned/blocked.
Vasilieva also speaks about Putin's decreasing popularity, the pandemic, economic crisis, and the forthcoming elections to State Duma, the lower house of the Federal Assembly, legislative elections that will be held in Russia on 19 September 2021.
According to Anastasia Vasilieva, the best way to help the Russian opposition from the West is to share the information. Please consider sharing this interview. Here is the beginning of this story, Jan 27

BREAKING: Arrests and raids galore in Russia, as the country braces itself for unsanctioned rallies in support of #Navalny & #Putin's address to the nation. I will report live. In Moscow, the police just pulled out of a taxi and drove away an opposition leader Lyubov Sobol.👇👇👇

"These squeaking and biting critters could kill a person faster than any hunger strike.
You can tell horror stories about me to kids who refuse to eat their meals.
Masha, if you don't eat your cereal, you will become like this man, all giant ears, a skull-like face & sunken eyes.
"Oh no, Mom! Please! I'll eat everything and ask for more!
But anyway, life brings you great moments and you have fun and laugh.
This weekend - I will not lie - wasn't good. I was admitted to a prison hospital ward at another penal colony.
