#VotingRights Alert SB105, the budget bill, goes to the #NCGA House floor this week. There are several anti-voter provisions. Tell legislators how important it is to protect the right to vote in NC. THE VOTING PROVISIONS NEED TO BE REMOVED or the bill should be voted down. #ncpol
NC Legislators are trying to sneak anti-voter bills that haven’t gained traction in the NCGA into the required budget. These provisions have been struggling to get through the #NCGA because they’re bad for North Carolinians and there has been sustained pressure against them.
The budget should be about appropriating funds to our communities – not stifling our right to vote. Other than wasting taxpayers’ money on a voter ID program for a law that’s not in effect, the bill’s proposals do not directly relate to government funds.
Legislators are hindering a fair legislative process. Putting these provisions into such a comprehensive document at the last minute leaves little room for public comment or substantive debate.
These provisions are part of a national trend of attacking Americans’ right to vote. We’ve seen similar bills across the country, including laws passed by legislatures in Arizona, Florida, and Georgia. We can’t let that happen in North Carolina.
The NCGA must remove these attacks and pass a budget that supports all North Carolinians.
Call your North Carolina legislators today and tell them to remove election attacks from the budget and protect our freedom to vote.
Attacks on our freedom to vote and our local elections administrators have no place in our state budget.
Tell the #NCGA that anti-voter provisions DO NOT BELONG IN THE BUDGET
Tell them to remove the attacks on our freedom to vote!
We need to let ALL legislators know how important it is to protect the right to vote in NC.
They will be under a lot of pressure to pass this bill because there are budgetary provisions – spending, raises, and tax cuts – that a lot of constituents want. BUT THE VOTING PROVISIONS NEED TO BE REMOVED or should be voted down.
