2/ Significant progress has been made since Paris, but more is needed and the UK is using our #COP26 Presidency to ensure we’re back on track.
3/ #COP26 will need to see major increases in ambition both through national level commitments and real economy changes.
4/ The UK has taken important domestic steps: record investment in wind power, a new UK #ETS, £5.2bn investment in flood and sea defences, clear plans to decarbonise heavy industry and North Sea oil, and businesses pledging to become #NetZeroBy2050 or earlier.
5/ And we plan to do more with our forthcoming strategies on Heat & Buildings, Hydrogen, and a comprehensive Net Zero Strategy to redouble our efforts to end the UK’s contribution to climate change.
