“I find myself in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen… I was completely blown away by the Rotunda.” — Jan. 6 defendant Robert Reeder, expressing a common sentiment.
“I thought the ‘I’ in FBI stood for ‘investigation.’ It’s pretty lame that a private lawyer for a dead police officer’s widow has to be the one conducting the investigation.” huffpost.com/entry/jeff-smi…

“Better to hold on to my soul in prison than to lie in bed with my wife and my children nearby, having betrayed all that I have told them I stand for.” — David Mehaffie on his first federal case huffpost.com/entry/fbi-arre…
A judge today denied the government’s request to revoke the pretrial release of Jan. 6 defendant Russell Taylor, finding they did not meet the “heavy” burden required to keep someone locked up before trial.
U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth said the allegations against Taylor were “serious” and the evidence against him “substantial.” But said the precautions taken — including GPS monitoring — mitigate the government’s concerns.
Judge called Taylor’s conduct "cause for concern” and says it "warrants stringent conditions of pretrial release” but denied motion to lock him up due to the "government’s inability to identify a future threat by clear and convincing evidence.” LINK: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…
