THREAD 🧵 : We’ve released our updated Dark Money report on groups that have capitalized on the Big Lie and the January 6 insurrection by funding efforts to restrict voting.
Conservative dark money groups have positioned themselves to attack our elections by pledging over $42 million in spending to restrict voting rights at the state level and blocking passage of the #ForThePeopleAct.
$24 million comes from Heritage Action.
Nationwide 371 bills have been introduced that include restrictive voting proposals called for by the Heritage Foundation
17 states have enacted 27 Heritage inspired laws.
Recently, The New Yorker’s Jane Mayer uncovered a network of groups that are actively working to limit access to the ballot for millions of Americans. These same groups fought tooth and nail to overturn the 2020 election - many of them still fighting. newyorker.com/magazine/2021/…
In a private meeting the executive director of Heritage Action admitted to writing parts of egregious voting restriction bills introduced by Republican state legislatures and passed into law.
The solution to this act of corruption and voter suppression is simple: the #ForThePeopleAct.
It’s time to restore accountability to our government by reducing the influence of dark money and wealthy special interests. Let's give power back to regular Americans & small donors.

🎉 #HR1, the #ForThePeopleAct just passed in the U.S. House of Representatives. This is a big deal.
A thread 🧵
The #ForThePeopleAct would:
- Get dark money out of our politics
- Take on corporate special interests
- Protect voting rights
- End partisan gerrymandering
#HR1 first passed in the House two years ago, and it’s still a priority because @SpeakerPelosi knows that we need to unrig our democracy and return power to the people.
🚨 THREAD: Over the holiday, the @AP reported that #BigMoney20 Senator David Perdue made a "stunning" financial gain by selling off MILLIONS in Cardlytics stock right before the company's value plummeted…

…Senator Perdue, a former Board Member at Cardlytics, then went on to buy back Cardlytics stock after an "unexpected leadership shakeup."
That shakeup may have been unexpected for everyone else, but it sure seems fishy that Senator Perdue was able to anticipate it.

👎 Let's be crystal clear. This is just another example of Senator David Perdue's seemingly endless corruption.
We joined our partners on a letter to the presidential candidates calling on them to make sure reform is a top priority on their campaigns. What's in it? Six big steps:
1/8
1. Expand the right to vote and make it an easier, more inclusive process.
2/8
2. The executive and legislative branches must operate under stronger, more enforceable ethics laws.
