Premier and PM for Sydney deserted NSW regions & Nats MPs betrayed everyone in their seats. Only an emerging catastrophe in Dubbo-Walgett, where the PM broke his pledge to vaccinate Aboriginal people as a top priority, does Gladys require a permit to leave Sydney. #Comboyne
2. Wanna know how Sydney-centric Gladys and the Nats in her Coalition are, how dismissive of the safety of NSW regional residents? Check out these new restrictions, which would have been in place from day 1 if they gave a shit. #Comboyne

3. NSW Police Commissioner says “biggest rorts” are Sydney residents improperly going to the regions. Been going on for weeks, even in #Comboyne, where cops didn’t even breach the offender when residents reported her. At least a permit is needed now. Where were the bloody Nats??
4. Qld, Vic and SA did the job quick and hard and ACT is doing same after Gladys point blank refused to isolate greater Sydney or shut State down quick & hard. NSW is a pariah State but please feel for us in NSW regions - we too were abandoned by the Premier & the PM for Sydney.
4. Snap lockdown of NSW, via Twitter - no presser. And no notice to non-Coalition MPs. Full-on Panic = terrible tragedies on the cards in the Bush.
6. Crying for Walgett, praying for other remote NSW communities left unprotected by this despicable ‘Government’ until it was too late.

7. News travels quick in little country towns - the socially distanced line-up at the #Comboyne shop before lockdown. Everyone I see says ‘About time’. Image
9. The un-leader of an unled State finally speaks, via Twitter, so gutless, no detail on horrors that FORCED her to protect her regions. Nats leader Barilaro tells ABC they’ve been planning for rural covid emergencies for a while. They KNEW the risks they took with rural lives.
10. Regional NSW locks down in half an hour, we have no official details on why and @abcnews is repeating that disgusting #qanda.
11. A timely reminder for NSW regional residents of the judgement of the Prime Minister for Sydney.
12. Within hours of announcing Sydneysiders need a permit to go to the regions from NEXT SATURDAY she shut down regional NSW w 2 hours notice via her MPs on Facebook. Surely she must resign. All trust, all faith in her judgement gone. As she said today, ‘The buck stops with me’ Image
13. Then again her endless repetitive blather and constant mixed messages might depress or anger regional residents even more? All I want is the detail of what is going on that triggered this rushed, panicked regional lockdown. Just the facts. Why the secrecy????
14. A Nationals Federal Cabinet Minister clearly furious with how the NSW ‘government’ handled the regional lockdown. The State Nats have betrayed their constituents, no question about it.
15. A Morrison leak to Murdoch media, his propaganda arm while he does what he’s told, that the State lockdown was his idea days ago. Believe it? What a gutless, self-interested bastard.
16. The NSW Govt has ignored regional media’s covid questions for weeks - this sad, bitter account from @newcastleherald journo @Needahugandkiss was written before today’s Gladys snub and STILL no detail of what went wrong for us after this morning’s press conference. #Comboyne
17. No press gallery questions on the dire vaccination rates in regional NSW Aboriginal communities or why the Morrison Govt’s pledge to make them a top priority has been such a shocking failure in rural towns like Walgett.
18. After rushing us into lockdown last night with no detail why and no appearance to explain Gladys today says NOTHING to us regional NSW residents about why she locked us down. She didn’t MENTION regional NSW. Gobsmacked.
19. How do you feel after Gladys deleted regional NSW in her opener today? I watched to find out the state of play - nothing.
20. Please pray for Burke residents, where many vulnerable Aboriginal people live. Covid in sewerage, we learn today. So bloody tragic. Image
21. Did I hear this right? Gladys says she didn’t front up yesterday after she suddenly locked down regional NSW because it affected “just a few local government areas”. FOR FUCKS SAKE.
22. People want the facts, not blame shifting and self-justification. Barilaro swipes at the ACT, infected by Sydney and in a short sharp lockdown. Leadership is dead in NSW. Blather, refusal to answer serious questions, blame-shifting and self-justification sucks.
24. Regional NSW residents rushed into lockdown w/o being told why watched today’s update to get the facts. Where’s the danger, what’s being done to help us. Instead, endless ‘white noise’ blather from Gladys without even a mention in her opening rave. Disgusted. Furious.
25. More than 1 million people, Gladys. Deserved a mention in your opening rave and the details on why we were locked down with 3 hours notice via Twitter, eh? Nope.
26. ZERO Pfizers from Poland to regional NSW from the PM for Sydney.
27. The NSW Govt for Sydney messed up even it’s scant info on what covid is doing in regional NSW.
28. Check out the Broken Hill mayor’s outrage at the Govt for Sydney.
29. Since Gladys doesn’t think regional NSW exists, thank goodness for the ABC. Good luck, Walgett and Dubbo.
30. Dr Chant very concerned about Aboriginal communities in regional NSW - Gladys didn’t think it important enough to mention and again ignored regional residents as the outbreak worsens in remote rural areas. Let us pray.
31. The Premier for Sydney has done it again! I reckon just about every NSW resident outside Sydney wants her to resign just in case there’s a successor who gives a shit about regional and rural NSW residents. #Comboyne
32. I drove to Bourke Shire from Brisbane for a Times on Sunday story on race relations way back. It is VERY isolated and remote and has a large Aboriginal population. Now hit by covid. Praying for Bourke. Image
33. Barilaro tries to repair the damage of the NSW Premier’s refusal to front the media to announce and explain her sudden lockdown of NSW then say it was only a few LGA’s effected so who cares. He’s only got a BS excuse though.
34. This is what the NSW ‘Govt’ has wrought by not protecting regional NSW from Sydney. Can’t be angry any more. A terrible tragedy is unfolding in Dubbo. Qld, Vic, SA didn’t let this happen, and last year WA created 5 lockdown regions to protect Aboriginal people. Praying. Image
35. Watching my local news on @nbnnews and learn the cops have roadblocked roads to the regions and are turning people back. A ring of steel at long last. Gladys finally allowed the Police Commissioner to act days after he said the ‘biggest rorts’ were people leaving Sydney.
36. At 633 cases Gladys for the first time mentions regional NSW - warns Wilcannia & expresses concern for Aboriginal people.

Was so proud Australia protected indigenous Australians last year. A terrible stain on NSW for failing to protect and the Feds for failing to vaccinate. ImageImageImage
37. Dr Chant refuses to say whether she wanted tighter restrictions than Gladys allowed. Or why they’re not as tight as Melbourne or NZ. There’s a very big story here - NSW regional residents very interested to know why Gladys made it so easy for Sydney to infect us.
38. Zero questions on regional NSW, including the emerging catastrophe among rural Aboriginal people. Could a Sydney journo volunteer to ask questions based on briefings from regional and rural journos please? #Comboyne
39. Hello @DaleDrinkwater. Could a Sydney ABC journo be tasked with asking questions after briefings by regional and rural journos? Didn’t hear any questions today, even on the plight of rural and remote indigenous Australians. #Comboyne
51. Done. Thank goodness for the ABC.
52. How Morrison and Gladys failed indigenous Australians in rural NSW.

8. Searingly honest and revelatory account of the a good journalist’s internal voices on a story like this, and the external constraints on publication. I RELATED BIG TIME.

Superb, Tory. I would have made the same decision as you for the same reason, until she’ ready let it be.

20. Christine Holgate turbocharged @auspost profits for the people, so Morrison unforgivably shafts her (hates public sector success over private sector competition) and current management covers up for him.
21. She was a great CEO of a profitable essential service owned by the Australian people. Morrison railroaded Christine Holgate to distract from his own troubles - now there’s a people’s campaign to bring her back to @australiapost
25. The Holgate and #march4justice stories merge. Wanna know how Morrison treats strong women? Read this -

1. Hi @jansant & @MargaretSimons. The ‘gatecrashing’ of mainstream political journalism has been happening in USA since Trump. Now it’s here; its jumping off point is MURDOCH of course.

Such a pity Credlin asked a question journos should have. BIG FAIL.
2. I thought hard on the question ‘What is a journalist’ when publishing the work of readers of #Webdiary for @smh online 2001-05. My conclusion: Adherence to the Media Alliance Code of Ethics. A ethical obligations are what defines journalists writing news, analysis or opinion.
3. I wanted to publish citizen journalism on #Webdiary, and my only requirement was that each contributor pledge to abide by Webdiary’s code of ethics, which I adapted from the @meaa code for journalists in our union.

1. I’m gunna go mad obsessively Twitter-following the election = anxiety and apocalyptic theories in why Trump will win.

I am now Panicked by the entry of energy policy in the mix. Our nightmare on climate change ensures that.

Recommendation: podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/com…
2. @TimAlberta is a political journo steeped in GOP politics. A must follow, but jeez, writing Biden’s victory analysis before the election makes my Irish bones ache. Lovely piece of writing, and interesting.

3. LOVE IT! Ivanka & Jared work for the Trump Swamp Family. Fine for the boss to maliciously throw baseless mud that Biden is head of a crime family & must be indicted. But tie THEM to Trump’s anti-NY invective & they’ll SUE!!! (Trump can’t be sued for defo while in office.)

1. Rampant political and bureaucratic corruption in Australia DEMANDS a strong #federalicac. The #scottyfromMarketing denial, resistance and delay same tactics from him on banks before the Royal Commission forced on Govt by public pressure. A public duty fail. Latest example.
2. VERY expensive, relentless coverup of Howard Govt corruption at the highest level ongoing by legal intimidation of the Whistleblower of an offical wiretap of East Timor negotiation team on East Timor oil deal crucified.

2. Morrison’s promise of a weak, secret #federalicac is 2 years old and he’s now reduced to a ‘too busy’ excuse. Public interest, voter enthusiasm be damned. He’d rather look pathetic than fulfill his duty to the people and our democracy. Starting to smell bad.
