🧵 I’ll never forget this day. I was going into my senior year in high school. I was in a guitar lesson at the Music Castle on Woodward Ave in Royal Oak, MI. The power went out - we thought it was people across the street setting up for the Woodward Dream Cruise….
My instructor finished my lesson acoustically, we walked out of the little studio and I overheard the owner of the shop listening to @WWJ950 on a battery-powered radio. The anchor said there were reports of power out along the entire east coast….
I had the car, so I had to go pick my mom up at work - about 2 miles away from where I was. It took me an hour and a half to travel a mile on Woodward Avenue. Traffic was gridlocked. It felt so ominous….
Keep in mind, this was almost 2 years after 9/11. Terrorism was still fresh in all of our minds. I remember my dad saying he kept looking over his shoulder on the ride home expecting to see a mushroom cloud. The moment he told me that is burned in my mind.
We spent the next few days in a dark house, only the fridge powered by a generator. My neighbors had a giant RV in their driveway - we spent some time there watching the news. We were all thirsting for information - it was one of those times that drew me to this job.
In the end everything was fine. Our worst fears never came true.

But I’ll never forget this experience.

NEW: In a late night news release, the Eagle County Sheriff says deputies will be present in schools on Monday because of tensions in the community over a new mask mandate in Eagle County Schools. #9News
The district announced on Friday that masks would be required for students, teachers, staff and visitors in all buildings with Pre-K through 8, due to a public health order from the county health department.
A news release says the county expects to lift the school masks public health order when case rates go below 50 per 100,000 for 7 days.

The state's COVID data dashboard has Eagle's current one week incidence rate at 208 per 100,000.

NEW: The Rockies tell me last night’s incident was a fan shouting to get the attention of the Rockies mascot Dinger, not a racial slur. The Rockies have spoken to the fan who confirms this is the case. They’ve also reviewed video from the local broadcast. #9News
Here's the video by the way. I've highlighted both the fan and Dinger in the the first clip, then zoomed in on the fan in the second clip. And Dinger in the third.
The Rockies tell me no one on the field, including Brinson, heard anything offensive.

THREAD: Not sure if any of you have been following what's going on in the craft beer industry - but a social media campaign is revealing some pretty intense stories about sexism, sexual harassment in a male dominated field....
The Instagram user RatMagnet, a female brewer from Massachusetts posted a question last week after her credentials to work in the brewhouse were questioned twice in the same day... she asked "what sexist comments have you experienced?"
Thousands of comments came in - most detailing disgusting comments men have made in taprooms and behind the scenes at breweries. Some detailed harsh working conditions. Others detailed specific claims of assault and harassment. It's led to some prominent brewers stepping down...

THREAD: Let me attempt to walk you through this word salad we just received from the state of Colorado....

We asked them about the 5 Star Program, which allows certified businesses within counties to jump up a restriction level if they pass an inspection. #COVID19colorado
Technically that would mean counties that are shifting to orange tomorrow would be able to let 5 Star Businesses move to yellow. For example, that might mean a restaurant could allow 50% capacity inside a dining room instead of 25%....
.@GovofCO made this decision to move red counties to orange, even if some of them don't fully fit the metric. For example, Douglas County's two week case incidence rate is 385 per 100,000. The state requires less than 350 to move to orange from red.
