In case anyone is unaware, GIDS have still not put in place any route to receiving blockers since the Bell case in December. For ten months trans children and adolescents, those who were approved to start treatment in late 2020, have been strung along while puberty continues.

Children and pre-teens who were assured of approval for blockers in November 2020, are still waiting in August 2021. The distress, pain and trauma of the past ten months for these children is hard to describe.

This pain and distress is completely avoidable. These are kids who had already jumped through years of ridiculous assessments and who have parental consent. NHS England and GIDS choose to harm trans children and adolescents.

How many months can a health service tell vulnerable pre-teens & teens that 'an review panel is being set up'. How many months can they tell kids going through unwanted puberty that help will come 'next month'. Their lack of care & disregard for the harm they cause is astounding.

Literally every week a parent messages to say their kid's just hit the start of puberty, is highly distressed, and the parent doesn't know what the hell to do to help their kid. Despite being in the NHS system. Despite jumping all the hurdles for years.

Parents considering options outside of NHS keep being pulled back to NHS with stick of 'there'll be consequences if you step out of line' and carrot of 'we'll be able to prescribe next month'. And next month never comes.

Many of these kids hate going to GIDS assessments for years on end. They have kept going on a hope that when they time comes they will get the help that they need. Those kids have been let down.

But no-one cares about those kids. Cos they are trans kids.
Meanwhile the UK mainstream celebrates this harm and pain.
And the NHS continues to prosecute one of the only medical professionals who cares enough to help.
