Very correct explanation behind blinding.
Well, the Durrani Empire of AFG was established in 1747 with Ahmad Shah Durrani as its founding father. He died of natural causes in 1772 & then his son Timur Shah Durrani also died of natural causes in 1793.

I started from 1800 bcz of the quoted tweet.
I have written about the Hotaki dynasty in multiple threads, including in the following thread.

Indo-Pak war of 1965, and the role of Afghanistan & Afghans!

When Indian Airforce was bombing Peshawar and Kohat, at the same time militants of Pashtunistan, backed by Afghan & Indian govt, were attacking Pak army in Waziristan - acc. to the state news media of AFG.

1/n
Pashtunistan was a joint project of India & AFG with which both countries sought to achieve their own goals, and violence to materialize this project began right from the very early years of Pak independence.
Read here about the background & details.
twitter.com/search?q=Pasht…
Pashtunistan's militancy continued even through 1960s. The Royal Afghan Embassy of London published details of the violence against Pak by their backed Pashtunistanis against Pak installations & military.

The papers records 20 incidents (of attacks, bomb blasts) in June, 1961.

#OTD in September 1879, The Afghan troops mutinied and killed the British envoy Louis Cavagnari at Kabul. along with his 70-men escort, and their bodies were dumped in a mass grave.
The murder of Cavagnari sparked the 2nd phase of the 2nd-Anglo-Afghan war - a war that the British Image
started for no good reason but only out of their colonial pride, ego and greed. There is no explanation till this date that what faults of the Afghans angered the British so much that it merited an invasion of their country, for a 2nd time in 40 years. Image
After their success against an unprepared Afghan army, the British signed a 'friendly' agreement that otherwise is quite notorious & disliked by the Afghans and is known as #TreatyOfGandamak.

The murder of the British envoy wounded the ego of the British.

Congrats to the party of freeloaders! This party already made a record of pre-election fraud, exploited blood of Pashtuns for their 'Inqelabi' politics, & stabbed the very people in the back after hijacking Pashtun movement to try to revive their otherwise dead political careers.
The 'senior' leaders of this new party had never won any elections in their whole political careers but have used the NGO-washing machine to cleanse themselves off of their crimes, and since then have milked one or the other political party to get senate or reserved seats.
It is not that old story that the 'young' leader tried to charm the ex-wife of Imran Khan, while she was still relevant in the politics and was still IK's wife, to win favors with the PTI leadership.

That attempt didn't work out for the reasons well known in Pak politics.

Did you know?

The full veil and its Burka variant were worn by the elite or relatively rich women in olden times to protect their expensive clothes and face & makeup from dust & sand while travelling.

Also, abaya & Burqa are imported innovations in the Pashtun society. Pashtun women have always worked in the farms and participated in all kinds of labors (Fetching water & collecting logs from miles away, raising cattle etc.) and that couldn't be done while wearing such dresses.
Also, add headscarf to that list. Dopatta & Chaddar (Parooney) are different though. These dresses came as imported fashion from other societies into our society. Widely promoted by the religious class, these dresses found a grand market in our womenfolk.

History of the last millennia, incl. the three wars that Britain fought against AFG plus the Kashmir war greatly contributed to the "invaders" phobia of India. Their 'investments' in AFG & mischiefs against Pak are driven by the fear* that India could again be invaded from
1/4
the western side. The reason British chose to use mountainous region for Durand Line as a border between British-India & AFG bcz that terrain offered a better defense for India against any invasion. Frontier tribes were kept in perpetual war with the same objective.

2/4
In the Indian mainstream politics, even today, you get to hear Muslims being called as enablers of the foreign invasions of the past, or children of the invaders. They have that fear and phobia that Hindus may again lose to rule India if there is unity/peace in AfPak.

That's embarrassingly wrong and devoid of facts!

Hazaras are not only mentioned as an ethnic unit of the Afghan nation but very much referred to as Muslims & Momin in a historic document issued by none other than Amir Abdur Rahman himself, issued ca. 1886-1890.

1/n.
Yet another embarrassing take by a Twitter historian to attribute a poem written in 2002 to the great Khushal Khan Khattak who lived through 17th-18th centuries. @Pashz7 already pointed this out earlier.

2/n
Another very poor take! Hazarajat has always been part of Afghanistan and was controlled by the Afghan/Pashtuns since their rule established in 1747. Read about the rule of the governors appointed by Taimur Shah.... by Shir Ali, even Amir Abdur Rahman - in late 1860s.
