the hinatmatsuri (doll festival), but the zen'in family 100 years later displays two male dolls instead : megumi-sama and yuuji-sama, they call the dolls. megumi-sama has a strict expression, while yuuji-sama gentle, but the young girls swear megumi-sama's...
porcelain face becomes much more gentle, almost smiling, when they turn him to face yuuji-sama a little bit more.
at night, the young girls who set the hina-dan up also swear they hear giggles and whispers from the room where the display was set. yet nobody was inside.
touching the dolls would transfer bad luck from the girls to the dolls, and ensure a long and happy life for them, but for the zen'in, the practice is a little bit different.
nobody can touch yuuji-sama without asking for megumi-sama's permission. like, actual asking.
"otono no megumi-sama, please allow this humble servant to touch ohime no yuuji-sama, please protect us from bad luck this year."
if nothing seems out of the ordinary on the hinadan, only then will the mothers allow the kids to touch yuuji-sama's hair and clothes.
it all started that year when one of drunken men of the zen'in crashed onto the hinadan (blasphemy!) and grabbed at yuuji-sama, to the point of tearing his beautiful garb and breaking his arm.
that night the whole of the zen'in family heard crying. the next day the man was dead.
when they discovered the broken hinadan and the dead man in the display room next morning, they had immediately called for a specialist to repair yuuji-sama.
on the top tier, yuuji-sama was carefully in megumi-sama's embrace; and megumi-sama's face was livid.
that year the zen'in was struck with disaster and financial problems; megumi-sama's wrath over the incident was endless.
and the fact that megumi-sama and yuuji-sama couldn't meet each other again after the festival (because yuuji-sama was taken away for repairs) made it worse.
so the next hinamatsuri, they took extra care in preparations. they made new, fresh outfits for both of the dolls; it was a celebration of their wedding after all. when megumi-sama was placed on the hinadan, the aura of the room was heavy and depressing.
but when they carried in yuuji-sama, fully repaired and cleaned up, to sit beside him, almost immediately the zen'ins can feel their worries lifting, the general atmosphere of the estate brightening.
that day they celebrated again; the groom and bride of the zen'in.
(( japanese dolls are uncannily pretty, and unearthly, and that makes them somewhat creepy/scary tbh hhhhh come on look at this))
though i can't imagine megumi's spiky hair flattened down there though

🔸basically a day where fushiguro sleeps in (late-night mission) and itadori gets a hairwash from him.
megumi groggily cracked his eyes open ; sunlight streamed in from his windows. he looked at his phone - 8AM. he hadn't set any alarms because he had planned to sleep in.
before he could wonder what it was that woke him up, megumi heard his stomach gurgle in protest. ah.
he came back last night, exhausted from his mission and had immediately face-planted onto his bed, without a shower, without eating dinner. he looked at his clothes - bits of cursed spirit gunk stuck to his uniform. disgusting. megumi sighed. laundry... clean sheets...
this is a direct quote from 散歩道の後に the light novel, don't bash me for this lol
but context was he was pondering over how yuuji's 'death' affected him and nobara, and how they were slowly moving on, and getting over it, making it part of their motivation to fight,
