DA Mike Schmidt just told the people of Portland to make peace with Proud Boys…

But this was Portland last year, on August 22, with local anti-fascists defending the city against rightwing extremist intruders



Yall keep an eye on PDX this weekend
As an abolitionist I understand the language Portland DA Mike Schmidt uses during this presser preceding the city’s 8/22/21 clash

But wrong place, wrong time.

Literal Nazis from other cities and states are invading your city, armed and planning violence
Today in Portland, the Proud Boys attacked anyone and everyone they could

Destroyed an emergency van

And smoke bombed their own stage setup at an abandoned Kmart

With no law enforcement in sight

Cause Proud Boys and PDX police are one and the same

White man shoots live rounds into crowd on busy city street in broad daylight

And gets safely taken into custody without a scratch by Portland police

A la Kyle Rittenhouse
Police departments have been infiltrated for decades by violent white supremacists, including Proud Boys…

But more importantly: they could kick all the Proud Boys and neo Nazis off the squad and still have the violent white supremacist institution of policing ImageImageImageImage

Let’s talk about those who still aren’t free, as a result of racism in policing, prosecution, and sentencing — also known as @thenewjimcrow

Cops kill 3 people a day

Black people are 300+% more likely to be the victim

But it’s a lot more insidious than that.

1 out of every 3 Black boys and 1 out of every 6 Latino boys born today can expect to be sentenced to prison

A Black person is 500% more likely to be stopped without just cause than a white person

Black people are incarcerated at more than 5 times the rate of whites
32% of the US population is Black or Latino, but 56% of the US incarcerated population is Black or Latino

In fact, if Black and Latino people were merely incarcerated at the same rates as whites, prison and jail populations would decline by almost 40%
