2. It was the morning of Friday, February 13th, 1976.
Military martial music blasted the air through the Govt owned Radio Nigeria.
Martial music was bad
The following words came after.. "Good morning, fellow Nigerians. This is Lt. Col. B. Dimka of the Nigerian Army calling."
3. This was 9am.
He continued "The Murtala Mohammed's govt is now overthrown by young revolutionaries..."
Before then, Dimka and some soldiers had ambushed General Mohammed's unescorted black Benz and riddled it with bullets.
4. He died instantly alongside his ADC and driver.
Another set of soldiers were sent to kill Obasanjo but by sheer luck he left his house late on that day. They instead shot another Colonel in a case of mistaken identity.
5. Another squad was sent to kill TY Danjuma at Marine Jetty close to Army HQ.
By if it's "mumu" or sympathy, the leader of the squad Lt. Garba called it off because of fear of excessive collateral casualties.
The same Danjuma quashed the coup later.
6. Danjuma rallied troops for a counterattack.
He ordered IBB to lead an assault on Radio Nigeria, who dislodged them.
Dimka managed to escape there.
Danjuma continued the coordination and in 8hrs, it was put down.
7. Ok what next?
OBJ became Head of State, the NSO (Now DSS) was formed.
Suspects were rounded up.
Both military (including Dimka) and civilian taken to Bar Beach and shot.
He was found in Abakaliki and brought back to Lagos.

We may never know exactly if he was murdered or died from natural causes but I will do my best to clearly state what happened. You make your deductions.
Records to all these are public from witnesses primarily the Oputa panel.
A day that was supposed to be our democracy day but moved to June 12 in memory of Abiola
Let me take you back to Abiola's journey, how he was supposed to be Chairman of IBB Transitional Council which may have changed the course of history etc.
THREAD!!!
2. In 1982, MKO Abiola was a leading national executive for the NPN (National Party of Nigeria) and one of the major financiers.
He had eyes to contest for Presidency on the platform of the party in 1983.
However, party stalwarts frustrated him.
3. They simply didn't trust MKO Abiola. He got angry and quit politics in 1982.
He later changed his mind and got affected by the ban on former Politicians and public office holders by IBB.
The ban was later lifted and he joined SDP in January 1993.
Today we do a little bit of Nigerian History Class.
The details of the how IBB put Nigeria into the OIC (Organization of Islamic Countries) and it's resultant effect.
THREAD!
2. Early January 1986, IBB almost brought Nigeria to a religious war when he "smuggled" Nigeria into the OIC.
The French news agency, AFP broke the news that fateful evening and The Guardian newspaper picked it up.
The agitation by Nigerian Muslims for Nigeria to join
3. Started in September 1969 by the Late Alhaji Abubakar Gumi, (yes.... Sheik Gumi's father) who was at the time the Grand khadi of the entire Northern Nigeria.
He headed the Nigerian delegation to a meeting of Arab countries in Morocco.
A four year old girl tells her mum to say Hi to aunty Ngozi and points to an empty side of the house. Her mom pays no mind to it and continues doing chores.
30mins later, mom gets a call that Aunty Ngozi died an hour ago
Maybe I will read through this thread tomorrow morning because "fear-fear".
Maybe I will drop my own experience.
My father's funeral took months to plan as per Senior Chief.
I saw him in dreams in between looking very tired and tattered saying "Why have we refused to let him rest". I told him it wasn't my decison to make. He moaned and wailed.
