After long consideration I have decided to leave the town I grew up in.
Unfortunately it is a town without vision and is stuck in the past. Conversations with counselors, MPs, family and friends have led to my decision to leave #Swindon.
For many years the council have been focused on large scale projects such as the 'snow dome' and new homes but has failed to maintain its heritage, culture and parks.
The council and councilors have grown complacent, putting politics over the town.
As a young person #Swindon is by far one of the worst places I have ever lived, there is barely anything going on, there is no more nightlife and there is a general negative feeling towards young professionals.
The ignorance regarding climate change within the town is extraordinary.
The councilors refuse to make any real changes and the council's #BeTheChange campaign is laughable. Don't move the 'choice' of climate change onto people, force it.
Swindon is stuck in the past, what has actually changed over the past 10-15 years? Not a lot.
The museums (Computing and SMAG) are left to rot, Regent Circus was a joke, the town centre is dying (again) and the council continue to do nothing significant.
Those are my five reasons why and although they have been kept short enough for a tweet I could write several pages for each point.
Essentially the problem is a lack of drive, vision and motivation within @SwindonCouncil and this is not something I will continue to support.
