Bear market = Friendships based solely on location and luck

Bull market = Friendships based solely on mutual interests and shared beliefs

The flippening is occurring
What is great about meeting friends online is that people still think it’s weird.

1. This means it’s underpriced

2. All the people you meet are independent thinkers who care less about looking weird
Tangible application:

• DM people with value

• Group chats of 3-8 people are the sweet spot

• Find niche communities your passionate about

• Create content the people you want to meet like

If I had to give a lecture series on marketing, here's 11 points I'd include:

1. Data is like protein:

It’s valuable - but it shouldn’t be your *only* input.

If all your decisions are guided by A/B tests, you’ll eventually end up with a porn site.

A. Understand how people work - Lindy.

B. Understand platforms + culture - Ever-changing.

Live in the barbell.
3. The best marketers are open source for the *first time ever*

• You can visit ad libraries
• You can sign up to newsletters
• You can see the copy on their website

There's no centralised database like Github - but it's there for the resourceful

The genius of this is the emotions it causes - it creates fear and inspiration at the *same* time.

If he cared to write advertising copy, he could sell sand to a desert.
Thiel isn't charismatic in the classic sense. He stutters a lot.

But his words are so on point that you forget about the communication.

Being productive ≠ Looking productive

Being busy all day can look very productive but can be insanely unproductive.

In contrast, internet rabbit holes can look very unproductive but can be insanely productive.
Knowing this doesn't seem to prevent it either

It STILL looks productive or unproductive - so your mind believes it is.

The only way out of the illusion might be to ignore it and focus solely on historical ROI - rather than how it looks.
