As of yesterday, Atrium Health CEO Gene Woods says 153 patients were on ventilators. 144 were not vaccinated
Atrium’s Dr. Katie Passaretti says 94% of hospitalizations in August have been in unvaccinated individuals.
Dr Passaretti says health care workers are emotionally and physically exhausted. She says there are morale issues.
Dr Passaretti anticipates increases in cases and hospitalizations for the next 2-4 weeks before a decline.
(I’m tweeting info live as it is presented in the Atrium board meeting right now)
Gene Woods says he visited Atrium Pineville last week. So far no mention of the outbreak there.
They are going into closed session and the public portion of the meeting is over

The CMS meeting is flying by. They may actually get to the back to school presentation at a decent hour.
Technical difficulties have resulted in the meeting coming to a halt. I don't know what is going on but @crjeterjr just said "thank you @Hunt_Saenz"

No Mecklenburg County long term care residents have died of COVID-19 since February #MeckBOCC
Charlotte hospitals are not seeing increases in patients in the ICU due to COVID
Keep in mind when the county says only ~34% have received at least one shot, that is out of the total Meck County population, not the eligible population. People under 16 are not eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine right now

Thread: I spoke to Gibbie Harris today about Mecklenburg County's vaccination rate. Mecklenburg County is lagging behind several neighboring counties right now.
Here is a look at the data, per NCDHHS

Full vaccinations:
Meck- 10.5%
Union- 11.1%
Gaston- 11.6%
Lincoln- 12.2%
Iredell- 12.3%

Wake- 13.7%

Partial:
Meck- 16.8%
Union- 16.6%
Gaston- 17.4%
Lincoln- 18.3%
Iredell- 17.5%

Wake- 22.5%
Yet vaccine demand is still incredibly high in Mecklenburg County. As you can tell from my tweets, open appointments in Charlotte go within minutes, not hours. Like last week when 650 shots in less than 5 minutes.
