Why do Shias mourn for Imam Hussain ibne Ali(a) ? : A Thread 🧵
During Moharram, we remember the sacrifice of
Imam Hussain(a) to save Islam. A majlis not only
commemorates the shahadat of Imam Hussain(a), but it also keeps Islam alive. We cry over the martyrdom of Imam Hussain(a) because the Holy Prophet(saw) also wept for Imam Hussain(a).
All our Imams showed by example that Aza-e Hussain must be established. The 4th
Imam Sajjad(a), never ceased crying for
martyrs of Karbala all his life. Imam Raza(a) organised majlis in
the court of Mamoon & encouraged poets to
recite marisa for sufferings of Imam
Hussain(a)
When Imam Hussain(a) was born, the Prophet
Muhammad(saw) had tears in his
eyes as he held his grandson in his arms. When asked “Why are you
sad?” He replied; "this son of mine
will be killed by the worst people. May Allah not grant them my
intercession."
Allah sent the angel Jibraeel with greetings that the Saviour of Islam
had been born but also with the news
that this baby will suffer on day
of Ashoor. Martyrdom was promised
to him & the Earth &
heavens wept for him.
(al-Musannaf, al-Hafidh abu Bakr bin abi Shaibah,v. 12)
Even the Holy Prophet himself cried for
Imam Hussain(a), when Jibreel brought him this
news.
When Prophet related this news to his daughter, Bibi
Fatima(sa),
she asked when it would take place.
The Prophet replied that neither he nor Ali, Fatima nor Hasan would be alive.
“Who would then
mourn for my Hussain?” she asked. The Holy
Prophet said, “Allah will create a nation who would mourn for Imam Hussain. A nation whose men and youth will mourn the young and old martyrs of Hussain's family, a nation whose women will remember sacrifices of Bibis..
and a nation whose children will remember the infants of
Karbala.”

Bibi Fatima(sa) then prayed to Allah asking forgiveness for those who mourned for
Imam Hussain(a) and his family.
The Holy Prophet(saw) said: O’ Fatimah! Every eye shall be weeping on the Day of Judgment except the eye which has shed tears over tragedy of Hussain for surely, that eye shall be laughing & shall be given glad tidings of the comforts of Paradise.
(Bihar al‑Anwar,vol. 44 pg. 193)
Umm e Salamah, the wife of the Holy Prophet(saw) also wept for Imam Hussain(a).

ref : [al-Khasa'is, al-Suyuti al-Shafi'I, 2:125; al-Manaqib, al-Magazili, p. 313; al-Musnad, Ahmad bin Hanbal, 6:294; Tarikh al-Islam, al-Dimishqi, 3:11; al-Bidayah wal-Nihayah, 6:230]
Even the Jinns mourned Imam Hussain(a)'s death, it has been reported that after Imam Hussain(a)'s martyrdom, Umm e Salamah said: "I heard the Jinns mourning for Hussain(a).”

ref : [Tarikh al-Kabir, al-Bukhari (author of the famous Sahih), v. 4, Part 1, p. 26]
It is reported that when Imam Hussain(a) was killed, the sky rained down blood.
Nadra al-Azdiya, woman who was contemporary of Imam : “When Hussain b. 'Ali was killed, sky rained down blood, next morning we found our wells & water jugs filled with it.” It is narrated by Ibn Hajar
The Holy Qur’an describes many of the Prophets and their followers when they cried, “When the verses of the Most Gracious were recited unto them, they fell down prostrating and weeping”
The Holy Qur'an, (19:58); also refer to (17:109).
Also Mourning & shedding blood is the Sunnah of Prophet Adam(a).
We read in Ahl'ul Sunnah's authority work Ma'arij al Nubuwwah, Chapter 1 page 248:
"Adam was so distressed that he smashed his hands onto his knees & skin from his hands caused gashes from which bone could be seen."
Those who deem the act of self-harm to be batil should look at the bloodletting actions of Adam(a). If Adam(a) can do this why cannot the Shia when mourning for Imam Hussain(a) ?
Mourning & hitting one self is the Sunnah of the Prophet. As evidence we shall cite the following works:
[Sahih Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 92, Number 446
Sunan al Nasai, Volume 3 page 305 Adaab al Mufarad, page 426
Sahih Muslim Volume 1 page 291
Musnad Abu Aawna, Volume 2 page 292]
So, Crying for Imam Hussain(a) is considered seeking nearness to Allah for the tragedy of Karbala is bound to the great sacrifice which Imam Hussain(a) endured for sake of Allah & for Islam. It is only when your heart is soft & absorbable that you feel sense of closeness to Allah
How can someone hear all this and not cry and mourn; even those who are not Muslims shed tears when they hear this tragedy. Even the heavens wept for Imam Hussain(a).
Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq(a) has said:
“…For no one the heavens wept for forty days save Yahya and Hussain…”
In conclusion, we cry for Imam Hussain(a) because so did the Prophet of Islam. Every year we continue & revive message of Karbala by mourning & crying over the injustice which AhlulBayt(a) suffered on the plains of Karbala, & through this keep his noble cause alive in our hearts.

The governor, Ibn Ziyad, ordered that family of Imam Hussain(a) should be taken through streets of Koofa. The people had been told that a rebel had been defeated by Yazeed in Karbala. They
came out and climbed on
to rooftops to get a glimpse. There was widespread celebration.

The heads of the martyrs were severed and carried on spears. The 4
th Imam in chains and the ladies of the Ahlulbayt(a)

captives on the backs of unsaddled camels from Karbala to Koofa. Their arms
were tied with ropes behind their necks.

Did the Shias of Kufa killed Imam Hussain(a) ? : A Thread 🧵
Kufa was a city established in year 17th, 18th or 19th Hijri. When the people after the killing of Caliph Usman, unanimously gave the oath of allegiance to Imam Ali(a) in the year 36 Hijri, he decided to change the capital of Islam from Medina to Kufa after the Battle of Jamal.
With the efforts of Imam Ali(a) and his true Shia, like Ammar Yasir, Malik Ashtar, S’as’ah b. Shohan etc., the true beliefs of Shiasm began to be propagated amongst the masses. But a large number of these companions were martyred at the Battles of Jamal and Siffin.
