• Gaining weight
• Struggling to make $$
• Struggling to create every day
Then, I did 75 Hard & everything changed.
Here's the story 🧵
75 Hard is a mental toughness challenge.
For 75 days straight, you must:
• Follow a diet
• Take a progress pic
• Drink a gallon of water
• Read 10 pages of a book
• Not have alcohol or cheat meals
• Do 2 45-min workouts (1 outdoors)
It’s hard AF.
But that’s the point.
After completing the program, I was in great shape.
But that wasn’t the biggest benefit.
The most significant change happened in my mind.
This program had completely changed my mindset & the way I was living.
This new life philosophy boiled down to 5 core principles:
1/ Ownership
A few months before doing this, I'd stumbled upon @jackbutcher's tweet:
“No one is coming to save you.”
That line stuck with me.
I'd constantly think of it.
But I didn't really start living by it until I was halfway through 75 Hard.
75 Hard helped me embrace an extreme ownership mentality.
I took full responsibility for my character & my fate.
And by doing so, my habits & behaviors changed.
Which led to...
2/ Discipline
After assuming full ownership over my life, I realized the power (and importance) of discipline.
So I began adding more structure to my days.
I started building habits & routines.
I leveraged repetition to increase freedom.
Which led to...
3/ Focus
Adding all these constraints to my life forced me to prioritize.
I eliminated most of my distractions & little time-wasters.
Even though I was still busy, I had much more space to focus on the things that moved the needle.
Which led to...
4/ Self-Confidence
My increased sense of control + my ability to see (& actually work on) the important things boosted my confidence.
Whatever my goal was, I knew I could pull it off.
Now it was just a matter of time.
And, finally, this conviction turned into...
5/ Courage
Armed with confidence, I started to push my limits.
I started other programs. I learned new skills. I started dreaming bigger.
A few months later, this materialized into one of the coolest opportunities of my young career:
Joining Ship 30 for 30.
But by the time I joined Ship 30 for 30, my 75 Hard days were long gone.
Excited for the opportunity, I took on a ton of work & let my habits & routines slip away.
Little by little, some of my struggles came back.
Some new ones emerged.
I've made some adjustments, but the big underlying issue is still there.
And that's why I'm doing it again.
But this time I'm aiming to create long-lasting change.
My goal is to create my own version of it so it stops being a 75-day program & becomes a 365-day philosophy.
That's my story!
I'm considering creating a free community for creators & entrepreneurs who wanna do the program.
If that sounds like you, let me know - I'd love to hear from you!
