In a particular conundrum on an @AmericanAir flight out of DC right now.

Bad weather caused a delay in departures so there's a traffic jam on the tarmac.

And the captain threatened if anybody else had to go to the bathroom he would take the plane back to the gate.

And people are getting upset when someone gets up to go to the bathroom because the captain threatened to bring the plane back.

But I'm sympathetic to people who can't hold it for an hour and a half which is how long it's been since our originally scheduled take-off time and we've all been sitting in these seats.

I'm not sure what the pilot is expecting. Surely some people would have to have an accident in their seats.

The captain just advised that due to route change and the amount of time we spent idling we don't have enough fuel to go to New York City. So we have to go back to the gate to get gasoline. At least people are again allowed to go to the bathroom now.

Don't read any of this as a complaint. In the air a lot lately and this is just what comes with the territory. I'm not sure I can really click the finger at anyone. It's just a "first world problem."

They are allowing people deplane for 10 to 15 minutes now while they refuel.

I asked a woman who's getting off if she's going to get something to eat. She said yes so I gave her $10 and told her to bring me back something meaty.

I just overheard that the people who are getting off or not going to be allowed to reboard.. so much for my $10. I really feel sorry for that woman cuz her husband is still on the flight and has all of her stuff.

The flight attendant is really doing his best.

The young lady I gave money to brought me back five guys Burger and fries. I can't overstate my joy.

Two and a half hours later we are again attempting takeoff.
