I’m not questioning whether there should be an airlift, I’m questioning a presumption that all these people are “good bc they helped us”. Even if they were all somehow exemplary humans, it’s naive to think malign forces are not attempting to take advantage of the situation.
Everyone who took part in the Afghanistan exercise was holding up a corrupt enterprise. Yes that includes US and Afghan forces and their interpreters all the way up to government ministers. That’s not an indictment of them but let’s not beatify them either
