@MNageswarRaoIPS @entropied. The concept of national mother goddess was introduced in a Bengali play written by Kiran Chandra Banerjee in 1873. Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in Anand Mutt introduced the concept of Vande Mataram to the nation, it was Bengal, not #Bharat.
Abanindranath Tagore painted the image of "Bango Mata" in 1905, a wandering sanyasini. This idea of Bongo Mata inspired many. In 1912, the concept of Utkala Janani emerged through patriotic songs in Odisha.
Bongo Mata became "Bharat Mata".
When the British rulers unveiled India's map, the image was personified as a woman,Bharat Mata, a goddess dressed in red, with Tiger or Lion symbolising fighting the British as part of the Indian national independence movement. In 1934, the Bharat Mata Mandir opened in Varanasi.
