Sending flash sales, discounts, or promotional emails for Ecommerce are great ways to have big revenue days...

...but you can only send these every so often.

Variety is key.

Here are 5 non-discount emails you can send to your list (for your own store or a client): Image
#1 Story emails

Story emails are a great way to entertain your readers AND sell your products...

...without relying on cheap sales-y tactics to sell.

You can find stories from:

>customers
>current events
>your products (manufacturing process, stories behind ingredients, etc)
Even better,

Is if your story plants an idea into your customers’ minds + shifts a belief they have...

Which then segues perfectly into your product.

There are infinite ways you can tell a story + then tie it into your product.
#2 Video emails

Video is becoming more and more popular by the day,

And for good reason:

We read less now than ever before.

You can link to a 3rd party video (like YouTube) or embed GIFs of

>customer testimonials
>people using your product(s)
>interview with founder/CEO
#3 Structured Newsletter

You can use a format & turn it into a regular newsletter.

For example,

@JamesClear's 3-2-1 Newsletter includes:

>3 short ideas
>2 quotes from others
>1 question

Subscribers know what to expect + look forward to it.
#4 Testimonial email

People LOVE social proof,

AND it doesn't come across as salesy - it can be very entertaining.

You can share stories, pictures, or videos of customers using your product + giving feedback.

Hint: Send out an email + offer discount codes for testimonials.
#5 Value email

Although most of your emails should offer some level of value,

A 'Value Email' is even less selling than usual.

Simply add value to your subscribers’ life in some way.

For example,

Sell haircare products?

"How to deep condition your hair"

Simple.
The idea is to not make the entire email about selling,

BUT you can still sell in the email.

Preferably,

Do it at the end - even in the 'PS' portion if possible.

(Bonus points: Make your value content tie in the product(s) you want to sell at the end!)

Tip 1:

Determine the Right Incentives.

Especially in the months leading up to your biggest promotion period, it’s helpful to understand which incentive types work best for your consumers

Try running tests which show similar values of discounts in different formats.
Tip 1 continued:

If your AOV is $50, try running a 10% off coupon against a $5 off coupon.

Try offering tiered incentives to see if you can drive up AOV:

10% off orders $60 and less

15% off orders $61-$99

20% off orders over $100
