How I Took An Clothing Brand From $100k To $2m On Email Marketing Revenue In Record Time
Thread//
IDK if ya'll are ready for this revelation...
But back in March, I took a clothing brand from $100k to $2M in email marketing revenue in less than 60 days!
Before I tell you how I did this
I have to tell you that this brand was already making sales in the order of millions per month.
Their email list was huge...
And all their sales were coming from paid social - zero email marketing.
This clothing brand was leaving a ton of money on the table by not taking email marketing seriously...
So basically, we had to start from complete scratch, here's a breakdown of what we did:
1. Lead Collection Mechanism
The first thing we did was set up a lead collection mechanism.
As a creative, we had an engaging GIF, and we were asking for "Name" & "Email" offering a 10% discount code.
Right off the bat, this pop-up started converting at a 12%
2. Flows
We crafted the following flows.
- Welcome ( 4 emails & 1 SMS)
- Abandoned cart ( 3 emails & 2 SMS)
- Browse abandonment ( 2 emails)
- Abandoned check-out ( 4 emails)
- Post-purchase ( 3 emails)
- Customer win-back ( 3 emails)
- VIP (3 emails)
The best converting flows for this account were the welcome flow ( $4 per recipient) and the abandoned cart flow ($3 per recipient)
These 2 flows attributed 70% of all the flow revenue.
3. Campaigns
First, we came up with 10 segments
( 6 segments out of a "highly-engaged" tier and 4 other segments out of a "win-back" tier)
We sent 22 emails to our highly engaged segments and 8 emails to our win-back segments.
Our goals for each email were:
- Keep Open rates between 15% and 25%
- CTR higher than 1%
- Revenue per recipient higher than $1
For the content of the campaigns, we took a value-based approach for 90% of the emails and a promotional approach for the other 10%
Keys to our success:
- Awesome products & customer service (essential for the success of any retention strategy)
- Lots of website traffic
- No email marketing (huge opportunity)
- Brand was already doing Ms per month, so it was quite easy to bump their revenue with email
And yeap...
Basically, this is how I took a brand from 100k to 2M in record time
