#SexInSandton: it's romance time ππΌππΌππΌ. Follow the thread as I make Bantu's workmates gang up against her. πππ Isukile!
There was panic at the office as Bantu and her colleagues were preparing for their weekly meeting.
Everybody was silently pacing up and down, some going through papers, some making photocopies and some applying make up on their faces.
The advertising company Bantu worked for had about a hundred workers in total, but in that meeting there would only be about five of them, including the boss if he wouldn't be occupied with something.
These were the top guys, the top decision makers in the company.
Meetings at Bantu's workplace were always filled with tension. But today there was bound to be more tension since Bantu had recently feuded with her boss. What's more, she had had an awful morning after an awful evening with her husband.
That tension eased a little in Bantu's heart since she knew that as the main guy at the company, aided by the fact that she had a colleague who always backed her up nomatter what, her ideas would prevail.
That was one of the benefits of being the top skhoko at your workplace. You called the shots. Even if you were wrong, but people supported you, you could win without shame all the time. It was Thatcherian in a way, but the ad industry didn't leave out too much time for discussion
In short, there was no time for debate or discussion. Your colleagues, or those under you, had to submit to you and not challenge you. There was no time to give everybody a voice. Ads had to made. Millions had to be made.
It's nice writing a fiction thread. Too lovely. When I sit back and I watch what I've written, and I see my name there (L. Sojini) and I see a blue tick next to it. Omayigod, iphi imali?
There was a multimillion campaign they were launching and Bantu didn't want anything going wrong. As the most senior executive, just one rung below her boss, all the reigns rested with her.
'Is everything ready?' she said, looking at Sben Berhit, their online traffic manager.
Berhit was good at his job, but Bantu didn't trust him since he always sided against her when they had big decisions to make.
Berhit nodded. Now, Bantu moved to her archenemy, their marketing manager, and Berhit's close ally Bogotswe Madina.
If Bantu didn't trust Berhit, she didn't trust Madina ever worse. In Bantu's mind, and this was her fear, Madina was gunning for her job. Not only did Madina side with Berhit against Bantu, but she also had a suspicious relationship with the boss, according to Bantu.
'Everything okay by your side, Boujee?' Bantu asked.
She was apprehensive when she asked this. Madina never wasted a moment to show how little she thought of Abantu.
'Like always,' Madina said. 'My team are ready. But, I think we forget that we also have another big campaign we're working on.'
This went straight to Bantu's heart.
Madina was talking about the campaign that she had objections with, a campaign that had put her at loggerheads with the MAdina was talking about the campaign that she had objections with, a campaign that had put her at loggerheads with the client and her boss as well.
'Well,' said Bantu. 'We should cross the bridge when we get there. Let's finish with this project and then talk about that project after.'
'No,' Madina said. Since her team, the marketing team were ahead of schedule, she explained, why shouldn't she take over the campaign?
'Look, the campaign is too sexual for your liking,' Madina said. 'I can take over and run it for you.'
This didn't sit down well with Bantu.
It was in her habit to unconsciously say what was on her mind when upset.
'You guys are ganging up against me? You're not gonna win!'
This all the while she thought she had been speaking to herself inside her head, unaware that she had said her thoughts very loudly.
'We're not ganging up against you,' Madina said. 'It's just comment sense. And common sense is not about losing or winning.'
Exposed, or singled out, Mrs AbantuAbajiki said: 'Who said anything about ganging against anybody or winning?'
Everybody in the meeting laughed at Bantu's expense.
