30 lessons on life, love, and the art of ghostwriting on my 30th birthday
// an absolutely based thread //
Doing what you tell yourself you should / must / ought to do *as soon as* you tell yourself gives you an instant self-confidence boost.
And it's addictive. 1/30
The biggest time-wasters are busywork that make you feel productive. If you a system, software, standard operating procedure, or subcontractor can do that task for you, they should 2/30
Ghostwriting is acting in print. It's capturing the tone, quirks, and unique vocabulary of an author, having them say what they didn't say (but should have), and making sure what you wrote sounds like they did. It's fun. 3/30
Spend time outside naked with friends you trust. Feeling the sun and breeze on your skin together is euphoric. 4/30
Know when it's worth it to take an unpopular stand and when it isn't. Some of my views are not worth the heat I'd receive, so I don't share them. Few. 5/30
Sharing a compliment with a stranger triggers suspicion. Never build rapport too quick. You look like a used car salesman. 6/30
Know why you like what you like. I like women with a nose ring and floral, leafy, or other nature-based tattoos because it takes courage to alter your appearance permanently. Tasteful self-expression is sexy. 7/30
Fasting makes you hungry, and hunger makes you work harder, smarter, and faster. 8/30
As @EdLatimore says, it's OK to have a normie hobby. Mine's golf because I played as a kid. Yours will likely be something you enjoyed as a child, too. 9/30
Children need equal time with parents. I've disrupted and tinkered with my own work scheduled so my little boy spends at least 50% of his waking hours with me. 10/30
It's OK to be a little bitch who quits (sorry @joserosado) as long as you're quitting the right thing at the right time. Too many stick with a trash relationship or business model because they've invested so much already. 11/30
Avoid people who find the wrong in everything. 12/30
Disavow what's popular in your network, circle, industry, etc. when you know better. Even if bigger accounts and better known people will call you out for it. The price is only your integrity. 13/30
Nonfiction books are 250-page direct response sales letter. The best make readers put the book down and take action. 14/30
Just because our hunter-gatherer ancestors did it doesn't mean we should. Just because our Boomers parents did it doesn't mean we shouldn't. 15/30
Dumbest moves Protestant Christianity in the West ever made were (a) opposing evidence of evolutionary biology and the ancient earth and (b) allying with secular sh*tlibs against Islam. 16/30
The best clients believe you know something they don't. Worst are the opposite. 17/30
Everyone on the planet needs hypnosis at least once a week, even self-hypnosis. In the same way most people get their garbage taken away every week and for the same reason. 18/30
This "press escape to go back" nostalgia overlooks how decisions made in those days brought us here. The future is forward. Not backward. This goes for the Right and the Left. 19/30
Golf is like playing chess with nature. 20/30
The #1 tell of a successful marriage is this simple thought: "How will this affect my spouse?" You are a power couple if you put each other before yourself. 21/30
Find yourself a wisecracking pal you can sh*t-test. Like @TheBrometheus. Except not him. he's mine. Lmaoooooooo 22/30
Show yourself the compassion you need but you parents withheld. 23/30
Pray the ho'oponopono prayer whenever you feel down. Instant release and uplift. 24/30
Credibility means what you say will happen, does. Professional hypnotists make themselves appear instantly credible. Watch and learn. 25/30
I incorporate Ghostwriting, Direct Response Copywriting, Hypnosis, Project Management, and Social Media Shenanigans into my personal brand.
No other human on the planet can match that. 26/30
Read the books you read at ages 12-14 again, this week. You'll see why you became the person you did. 27/30
They say it's never too late. Often, it is. Rarely, it's not. Look for *those* opportunities. Because few others are. The result is a success story worth writing a memoir about. 28/30
The luckier someone gets, the worse their advice. 29/30
Midwit authors deploy every weapon of mass persuasion they can to build trust. Their goal is to make you perceive their ideas, tactics, and strategies as more valuable than they are. 30/30
BONUS Lesson 31:
Imagine that you and God are the only two people you are absolutely certain exist.
Coach and player. Life is a competition.
Now go play your heard out.
