Good morning, and good Monday!

As we complete the first few weeks of the term, may I suggest that you spend some time planning for Fall 2021?

I know, the global status of this pandemic is literally CLUSTERFUCK, but for some reason, global systems keep moving forward along.
On my blog, I have a section called "Planning and Processing Protocols"

Several blog posts housed in this page should be useful to you.

Planning work over the summer (for faculty and undergrad/graduate students) raulpacheco.org/2019/04/planni…

While I wrote this blog post to help graduate students and faculty and ECRs plan their summer, you can use it to plan a term too.
My students often ask me "Professor, what should I do on the Monday, first thing?"

I don't really know what to answer when they ask this question. I'm a morning person and I try hard to take weekends off (with mild-to-good success).

But if you are like me, I can suggest:
This post may help you set semester-long, monthly, weekly and daily goals:

If you are anything like me, you probably want to spend some time on Sunday nights (long gone, sadly, it's Monday morning in Aguascalientes!)

The Sunday night weekly planning strategy raulpacheco.org/2018/10/the-su…
I teach Mondays (11:00am through 2:00pm), so I know for a fact any time before class I'm going to be stressed about making sure my lecture is perfect.

To that end, my goals on Mondays for this fall are super simple:

1) Plan (or check my plan) for the week ahead.
2) Read an article (related to my research)

3) Prepare my lecture (I usually generate slides well in advance, but I re-read what I assign before class again to ensure the flow of the class)

4) Teach

5) Vegetate (exhausted after teaching) & nap

6) Plan my writing 4 the week

This book by @NVohnsen surprised me in a way I didn’t expect. Similar to the work of Bernard Zacka, this volume is a political ethnography of policy implementation. Specifically studying the case of Danish employment support policies and agencies, this book is really fun to read. Image
Holm Vohnsen writes in a humorous way and uses concepts like absurdity and sense-making to explore a randomized controlled trial intended to bring workers back to work after receiving health benefits (Active - Back Sooner). Her study explores why implementation failed.
For scholars of public administration who study street-level bureaucracies, The Absurdity of Bureaucracy will provide you with an in-depth examination of how certain interventions fail and the multiple reasons why they do, particularly because of absurdities.

I know my friends and colleagues who have published extensively on street-level bureaucracies (SLBs) will be somewhat surprised that I'm working now on this.

This should not surprise you at all. I've studied public policy implementation for A VERY LONG TIME already.
I just hadn't published on it. I have been extremely exhausted over the past two years, with COVID19, and also, if you recall, I suffered from chronic pain and chronic fatigue for 3 years of my life. I also had an extreme case of psoriasis/dermatitis/eczema. This slowed me down.
My first book-length manuscript study was a longitudinal ethnography of a Mexican river basin council. It's taken me A VERY LONG TIME to get it published, but it will. In that study, I also discuss how implementation of water policy is achieved by SLBs. I wrote this a while ago.

raulpacheco.org/2017/08/how-to…

He trabajado en gobierno, iniciativa privada, sociedad civil.
