Elder surrogates kicking off his first event today, warning that if Newsom wins, California will become a failed state where “our children are selling bottles of water to tourists.”
Former Lt. Gov. Abel Maldonado says he has a question for his fellow Latinos: “What do you have to lose?”
Elder appearing with his top Dem endorser, former state senate President Gloria Romero, as well as former Monterey Park Mayor Betty Chu, a Republican. Both appear in his ads
*former senate majority leader
Romero says that Newsom will be recalled when all the ballots are counted, “even the fraudulent ones.”
Sort of a rainbow coalition of Latino and Asian and White supporters behind Elder, as one supporter eaves a sign saying he “does not divide us by skin colors.”
Elder going into detail about the private education history of Barack Obama and his family, to make his point about liberal hypocrites opposing school choice.
Elder onto his main stump — homelessness, cost of living, businesses and wealthy leaving the state.
Elder hitting the media for not running more coverage of the egg-throwing incident in Venice
Elder repeats a whopper he’s used before: That none of the Newsom surrogates have said “Gavin Newsom has done a good job.” Warren, Harris, etc have all praised his record in their speeches, but the lines that get quoted are all about recall/Elder.

For some reason I made "Now That's What I Call Music" playlists of the big hits and standards from the distant past. If you voted for Warren G. Harding you were listening to these songs open.spotify.com/playlist/6eTk9…
Because I am a millennial and therefore have undiagnosed OCD, I actually went back to check when the songs charted, so all the lists are in that chronological order.
Other networks might have called the race, but we’ve got Fox at the Elder party and they’re not Arizona-ing this one
Fox call onscreen, party getting slightly quieter
Former Lt. Gov. Abel Maldonado onstage now, saying he just talked to Larry Elder.
"Some TV stations are saying it's coming to an end. It's way too early. They just counted the mail ballots. They need to count the real ballots, from working people."
Pastor Jack Hibbs leads Elder election night party in prayer, starting with reference to the Democratic machine. "Father, we would pray that you dismantle everything they sought to do every day up til now. All of the spin. All of the stuff."
Fox News just turned on here, with a chyron in the corner showing the first recall results: No up 66-34.
Network is playing footage of the gorilla-mask cyclist attacking Elder on a loop.
Okay, the loop is over, I just noticed it because my wide self is in the corner of the shot.
Dems laying it on thick here, confident that come Wednesday they're going to have a new "we beat the recall with covid messaging" story to tell. Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia: "We're going to have our governor's back, and we're going to have our president's back."
Every statewide elected Dem is at this rally, except Sen. Dianne Feinstein - whose age became an issue in the campaign, with Elder saying she had "a worse mental condition than even Joe Biden" and he would appoint a Republican if he got to replace her.
Newsom doing something that clearly irritates Elder: Talking about diversity though he’s is a white guy and Elder is not. “Pluralism is on the ballot. Diversity is on the ballot. Racial justice is on the ballot.”
