When Ksenia Coffman started editing Wikipedia, she thought of it as a fun new hobby. She didn't expect to spend years of her life in an all-out edit war with Nazi fanboys. wired.trib.al/VTbHDfy 1/7
But as Coffman clicked through articles about the Second World War, one of her favorite subjects, she kept finding disturbing inaccuracies. There were genocidal commanders painted as reluctant killers, fascist propaganda-pushers cited as legitimate historians. 2/7 Image
This was about more than a few rinky-dink Wikipedia pages. This was a warping of historical memory. It was enough to turn Coffman’s hobby into an obsession. 3/7

On the operating table, time is of the essence and responding quickly to blood loss is a matter of life or death.

A team of researchers at MIT have been developing a different approach to help surgeons save time and lives: barnacle inspired glue.wired.trib.al/xvu6Eok 1/7
Blood is a “contaminated fluid” because it’s not a homogeneous liquid—it’s filled with blood cells. For an adhesive to work, the goal is to get those cells out of the way. 2/7
Instead of using actual barnacle proteins for this test glue, it was used as a kind of chemical rubric for devising a high-pressure physical barrier. 3/7

Let’s face it. The pandemic isn’t going anywhere.

So whether you are vaccinated or unvaccinated, now is the time to bring out your masks, wash and dry them if needed, and perhaps update your stash altogether. Here are our WIRED recommendations: wired.trib.al/TpyWryo 1/
No matter how effective a mask is, it's not going to work if you don't want to wear it. Lululemon’s Double Strap Mask has signature soft fabric, so it's stretchy and silky against your face allowing you to wear it comfortably, all day. 📸: Lululemon fave.co/3D2Pgc6 2/
Kitsbow's Wake Protech Reusable Face Mask is another great option for double maskers. It offers six sizes to fit a whole slew of faces. It's on the heavier side of masks, but it comes with options for removable inserts and merino wool. 📸: Kitsbow fave.co/2W79zEt 3/
