Like, Puff was out of pocket based on My Way, Confessions, and Emancipation of Mimi alone especially because... THE HITMEN.

JD has gotten on my nerves in multiple ways over the years but we NOT gonna act like this nigga wasn't the Atlanta counterpart to Puff. We're just not. They're direct peers, both wonderkinds with an eye and ear for talent and creating a full lifestyle & culture.

.... and only one of them is in the songwriter's hall of fame, and it ain't Puff.

Before we even had an inkling of a looming shut down Jermaine and Lil Jon did a kind of #Verzuz-style set at Essence. They each brought out the acts for their hottest productions. It was PHENOMENAL. JD ain't no hoe at this.

I think he also knows Dre ain't gonna do it. Somebody said if anything it would be better to bring Premo back for Dre and I agree.

The thing about Jermaine is that he's the one other cat that can match Puff with the ENERGY. Party hits, got it. R&B hits, got it. Remixes, got it. AD LIBS, got it. All in the video-ness, GOT IT.

And Jermaine can put most of his work down and say he's PRIMARY, if not SOLE producer. Puff can't say the same, and that's no shots because any Hit Man will tell you Puff deserves every EP credit he has.

Jermaine fck around and bring Jay out for Money Ain't a Thing, do whole mini sets with Mimi and Ush, return the Special Delivery remix with the Oh I Think They Like Me remix, answer any Puff and Mase duos with him and Brat... have everybody at home singing "Word up, hey..."

The timeline lost their minds at the idea of Bow and Soulja and Xscape and SWV but suddenly like "Well I don't know...."

And Jermaine got fire on his own as an artist AND a featured artist. That keeps some of his outside remixes in play (Like Sleeping in My Bed)

We've already seen that round for round, especially when ppl wanna just celebrate and big each other up, the songs don't have to match up EXACTLY. It's about the feeling. So JD not having a "Who Shot Ya" is not a deciding factor. AND JD got stories about how he wrote his shit.

These convos are entertaining and fun to hypothesize but also exhausting because people act like we ain't all been watching Verzuz matches for the last year and a half to see how they play out and why, and still get stuck on the same things that are NOT deciding factors.

Ultimately, my whole point is that Puff and JD are WELL MATCHED. They would be a hell of an event, and Puff was experiencing selective amnesia to say otherwise. How many rounds each person would actually take don't matter - JD can give him a run.
